  1. Keep increasing that trade value Big Mike! We might get a player above rookie ball for you!

    1. And also also Colomé. I was actually thinking back to his signing the other day, remembering how nice it was going to be to have him in the pen. Then he comes out and racks up an era nearly a full run higher than his worst more than 5 seasons ago … ugh.

      1. My apologies to Hansel; MLB Gameday hadn't refreshed when I opened it and glanced at it before posting. He just didn't suck this particular game.

  2. That was Maeda's first run scored since 2019 with the Dodgers. I'm surprised he pinch-ran at all because there's a rule that allows the previous-previous batter to run if the last spot is now a pitcher. LaRussa ran into that by not knowing the rule.

Baseball's extra-inning rules say that if the pitcher's spot made the final out of the previous inning, a team can choose the batter before that one to start at second base instead. In the Twins' case Monday, that was catcher Mitch Garver.

    Baldelli decided against it.

"No disrespect to Mitch, I do think Kenta's probably faster than him," Baldelli said. "We were going to put the guy out there that ran the best at that point. And he has experience doing it too. That's kind of how we landed, but we had to get a little creative today."

Garver's sprint speed this season is listed at 25.6 ft/s. Cruz is listed at 26.1 ft/s.
