Ben Rortvedt delivers a pinch-hit walkoff.  Caleb Hamilton hits a two-run sac fly.  Breckin Williams does well in relief.  Charles Mack reaches four times.

ST. PAUL 4, LOUISVILLE 2 IN ST. PAUL (10 INNINGS)

Mark Contreras homered in the ninth to tie it 2-2 and Ben Rortvedt hit a pinch-hit two-run homer in the tenth to win it.

Batting stars:  Rortvedt was 1-for-1 with a two-run homer, his third.  Contreras was 1-for-4 with a home run, his twelfth.  The Saints were out-hit 9-4.

Pitching stars:  Ian Hamilton struck out four in three innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.  Rob Whalen pitched a scoreless inning, walking one and striking out one.  Robinson Leyer pitched a scoreless inning, walking two.  Ian Gibaut pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  Edgar Garcia struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Bo Takahashi struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up no hits and three walks.  Jose Barrero was 2-for-5 with a double.

Good stats:  Jose Miranda was 0-for-3 and is batting .338.  Nick Gordon was 0-for-4 and is batting .308.  Hamilton has an ERA of 2.63.  Garcia has an ERA of 2.79.

Bad stats:  J. T. Riddle was 0-for-3 and is batting .187.  Leyer has an ERA of 5.40.  Ryan Mason gave up a run in 1.1 innings and has an ERA of 8.10.  Gibaut has an ERA of 8.13.  Whalen has an ERA of 8.59.

WICHITA 5, MIDLAND 4 IN WICHITA

Caleb Hamilton hit a two-run sacrifice fly in the ninth to win it.  There were no errors on the play--it was simply a deep fly ball and Jermaine Palacios was fast enough and hustled enough to score from second.

Batting stars:  Hamilton was 2-for-3 with a home run (his seventh) and four RBIs.  Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-3 with a home run (his sixteenth), a walk, and two runs.

Pitching stars:  Austin Schulfer struck out six in five innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks.  Evan Sisk pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks.

Opposition stars:  Chase Calabuig was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.  Jonah Bride was 2-for-5 with a home run (his sixth) and a double.  Jared Koenig pitched 6.2 innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks and striking out six.

Good stats:  Austin Martin was 0-for-3 and is batting .313.

Bad stats:  Adam Lau gave up three runs in 2.1 innings and has an ERA of 6.65.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 48-35, in first place in the AA Central/North, three games ahead of Tulsa.

QUAD CITIES 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Logan Porter's two-run homer in the fourth put the River Bandits up 2-1, and Maikel Garcia's two-run homer in the fifth put the game out of reach.

Batting stars:  Max Smith was 1-for-2 with a walk.  The Kernels had just four hits.

Pitching stars:  Breckin Williams struck out three in two perfect innings.  Andrew Cabezas pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.

Opposition stars:  Christian Cosby pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks and striking out four.  Porter was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fourth.  Garcia was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Starter:  Tyler Beck pitched six innings, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk and striking out five.

Good stats:  Yunior Severino was 1-for-4 and is batting .333.  Beck has an ERA of 2.47.

Bad stats:  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-3 and is batting .185.

The Mighty Mussels scored two in the second to go up 2-1 and led the rest of the way.

Batting stars:  Jesus Feliz was 2-for-4 with a double.  Willie Joe Garry, Jr. was 2-for-4.  Charles Mack was 1-for-1 with a double, three walks, and two runs.

Pitching stars:  Miguel Rodriguez struck out four in three innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk.  Zarion Sharpe pitched four shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.  Carlos Suniaga pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  J. J. D'Orazio was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Addison Barger was 2-for-4.
