Minor Details: Games of September 14

Damek Tomscha has a big day.  Zach Featherstone continues to pitch well.  Rain was the winner in Wichita and Fort Myers.

ST. PAUL 13, INDIANAPOLIS 4 IN INDIANAPOLIS

Jose Miranda hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run second.

Batting stars:  Damek Tomscha was 4-for-5 with a home run (his tenth), a double, four runs, and two RBIs.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 3-for-5 with two runs.  Mark Contreras was 2-for-5 with a home run, his sixteenth.  Miranda was 2-for-6 with a home run (his fourteenth) and four RBIs.  Sherman Johnson was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, his fifth.

Pitching stars:  Drew Strotman pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks and striking out four.  Ryan Mason pitched two perfect innings, striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Hunter Owen was 1-for-4 with a home run, his seventeenth.  Bligh Madris was 1-for-4 with a home run, his ninth.

Good stats:  Miranda is batting .331.  Gilberto Celestino was 0-for-3 and is batting .305.  Tomas Telis was 0-for-5 and is batting .303.

Bad stats:  None.

Record:  The Saints are 59-56, in third place in the AAA East/Midwest, eight games behind Toledo.

ARKANSAS AT WICHITA

The game was suspended in the fifth inning with Arkansas leading 5-1.  It will be completed today before the scheduled game.

PEORIA 6, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN PEORIA

Jordan Walker hit a three-run homer in the third to put the Chiefs ahead 4-0.

Batting stars:  Matt Wallner was 2-for-4.  DaShawn Keirsey was 1-for-3 with a home run, his fifth.

Pitching stars:  Zach Featherstone struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a walk.  Tyler Palm struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a hit.

Opposition stars:  Thomas Francisco was 2-for-3.  Masyn Winn was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Connor Lunn struck out eight in seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.

Starter:  Cody Laweryson pitched 5.1 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk and striking out five.

Good stats:  Jeferson Morales was 0-for-3 and is batting .315.  Featherstone has an ERA of 2.15.

Bad stats:  Palm has an ERA of 5.12.

Record:  The Kernels are 63-52, in second place in the High-A Central/West, twelve games behind Quad Cities.
