A big day from Gilberto Celestino isn't enough.  Cole Sands and Kody Funderburk pitch well.  The Kernels hit five home runs.  Rain wins again in Fort Myers.

INDIANAPOLIS 2, ST. PAUL 0 IN INDIANAPOLIS

The Indians scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Batting star:  Gilberto Celestino was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Pitching stars:  Jason Garcia pitched four shutout innings, giving up four hits and one walk and striking out one.  Chris Nunn pitched two shutout innings and struck out one.

Opposition stars:  Phillip Evans was 1-for-2 with two walks.  Miguel Yajure struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up four hits and a walk.

Good stats:  Jose Miranda was 1-for-4 and is batting .340.  Celestino is batting .319.  Nunn has an ERA of 2.84.

Bad stats:  B. J. Boyd was 0-for-4 and is batting .182.  Garcia has an ERA of 8.00.

Record:  The Saints are 61-57, in third place in the AAA East/Midwest, eight games behind Toledo.

WICHITA 2, ARKANSAS 1 IN WICHITA

The Wind Surge scored single runs in the second and seventh.  The Travelers got their run in the ninth and had men on first and second when the game ended.

Batting stars:  Ernie De La Trinidad was 2-for-3 with a home run, his ninth.  D. J. Burt was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Cole Sands pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks and striking out four.  Kody Funderburk struck out five in four innings, giving up one run on three hits.

Opposition stars:  Jack Larsen was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Zach DeLoach was 2-for-4.  Brandon Williamson struck out ten in six innings, giving up one run on six hits and one walk.

Good stats:  Funderburk has an ERA of 1.25.  Sands has an ERA of 2.46.

Bad stats:  Gabe Snyder was 0-for-3 and is batting zero.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 68-50, in first place in the AA Central/North, five games ahead of Arkansas.  Wichita has clinched a spot in the playoffs.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, PEORIA 6 IN PEORIA

Trailing 3-2, the Kernels scored four in the top of the eighth, but the Chiefs scored three in the bottom of the eighth.  Seth Gray hit a home run in the ninth.

Batting stars:  Aaron Sabato was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his sixth and seventh).  Michael Helman was 2-for-4 with a home run (his nineteenth) and two runs.  Edouard Julien was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his thirteenth.  Gray was 1-for-4 with a home run, his eleveth.

Pitching stars:  Andrew Cabezas struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Carlos Suniaga pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Jhon Torres was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Pedro Pages was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Logan Gregg struck out seven in seven innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks.

Starter:  Casey Legumina struck out seven in 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks.

Good stats:  Anthony Prato was 0-for-3 and is batting .306.

Bad stats:  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-4 and is batting .191.  Tyler Palm gave up no runs in two-thirds of an inning and has an ERA of 5.05.  Legumina has an ERA of 5.79.  Suniaga has an ERA of 9.45.

Record:  The Kernels are 65-53, in second place in the High-A Central/West, twelve games behind Quad Cities.
