Minor Details: Games of May 12

A tough day for everyone but the Mighty Mussels.  Kyler Fedco has a successful high-A debut.

COLUMBUS 11, ST. PAUL 7 IN COLUMBUS

Mitchell Tolman hit a two-run homer in the seventh to break a 7-7 tie.  The Saints scored all seven runs in the third inning.

Jake Cave was 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and three RBIs.
Curtis Terry was 2-for-5.
Kyle Garlick was 1-for-5 with a two-run homer, his second.
David Banuelos was 0-for-1 with three walks.

Starter Jordan Balazovic lasted just two innings, allowing seven runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks and striking out one.

The Saints are 15-17, in eighth place in the International League West, one game out of seventh place, 6.5 games behind first-place Nashville.

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS 7, WICHITA 0 IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

The Naturals scored four in the fifth and three in the seventh.

Edouard Julien was 2-for-4.

Starter Simeon Woods-Richardson struck out eight in 5.2 innings, but allowed four runs on five hits and a walk.
Steven Klimek pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.

The Wind Surge is 18-12, tied with Tulsa for first place in the Texas League North.

PEORIA 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN PEORIA

The Chiefs scored four in the third to overcome a 3-0 deficit.  The Kernels made three errors in the inning.

Kyler Fedco was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs in his high-A debut.
Willie Joe Garry, Jr. was 2-for-4 with a double.
Jeferson Morales was 2-for-4.

Starter Cade Povich lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk and striking out one.
Andrew Cabezas struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk.
Bradley Hanner struck out two in two perfect innings.
Orlando Rodriguez struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.

The Kernels are 22-9, in first place in the Midwest League West, two games ahead of Wisconsin.

FORT MYERS 3, PALM BEACH 0 IN FORT MYERS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

The Mighty Mussels scored two in the first and one in the fifth.

Emmanuel Rodriguez was 2-for-2 with a walk.

Starter Pierson Ohl pitched a scoreless innings, giving up one hit.
Hunter McMahon pitched three shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out two.
Juan Mendez struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks.
Matthew Swain struck out three in a perfect inning.

FORT MYERS 3, PALM BEACH 2 IN FORT MYERS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

The Mighty Mussels led 3-0 after two.

Mikey Perez was 2-for-2 with a double.

Mike Peredes struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk.
Jackson Hicks struck out four in two perfect innings.

The Mighty Mussels are 18-10, in first place in the Florida State League West, two games ahead of Clearwater.

  1. Had to lookup where Northwest Arkansas plays and its a town called Springdale. Wiki says its the fourth largest town in Arkansas.

    I could name like 4 towns in the state off the top of my head: Little Rock (capitol), Pine Bluff (Torii Hunter), Fayetteville (university town), Bentonville (WalMart) and thats about it
