Minor Details: Games of May 15

A good day for Alex Kirilloff.  A better day for Alerick Soularie.  Marco Raya pitches four hitless innings.  The Saints have lost seven straight; the Mighty Mussels have won seven straight.

COLUMBUS 5, ST. PAUL 3 IN COLUMBUS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Will Benson hit a two-run homer in the third to put the Clippers up 2-1.

Caleb Hamilton was 2-for-2 with a walk.
Kyle Garlick was 2-for-4 with a double.
Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-4.
Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second.

Starter Bailey Ober struck out seven in five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and no walks.
Tyler Viza pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits and striking out one.

COLUMBUS 5, ST. PAUL 4 IN COLUMBUS (GAME 2--8 INNINGS)

A sacrifice fly brought home the deciding run.

Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Curtis Terry was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fourth.

Starter Dereck Rodriguez pitched four innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk and striking out two.
Jovani Moran pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two walks.

The Saints are 15-19, in ninth place in the International League West, a half-game behind eighth-place Omaha, 8.5 games behind first-place Nashville.

WICHITA AT NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

Rained out.

The Wind Surge is 19-12, in first place in the Texas League North, a half game ahead of Tulsa.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, PEORIA 3 IN PEORIA

Alerick Soularie hit a two-run homer in the second and a two-run triple in the fourth, giving the Kernels a 4-0 lead.

Soularie was 2-for-3 with a home run (his second), a triple, a walk, three runs, and four RBIs.

John Stankiewicz pitched five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out five.
Cody Laweryson struck out three in two innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit.
Miguel Rodriguez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk and striking out one.
Melvi Acosta pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.

The Kernels are 24-9, in first place in the Midwest League West, two games ahead of Wisconsin.

FORT MYERS 6, PALM BEACH 0 IN FORT MYERS

Kyle Schmidt singled home a run in the sixth to break a scoreless tie.

Jake Rucker was 3-for-5 with two doubles.
Emmanuel Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and two RBIs.

Marco Raya pitched four shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk and striking out two.
Jaylen Nowlin struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

The Mighty Mussels are 20-10, in first place in the Florida State League West, two games ahead of Clearwater.
