Minor Details: Games of June 22

Josh Winder pitches well.  So does Brent Headrick.  Two-run homers decide things for the Kernels and the Mighty Mussels.

BUFFALO 3, ST. PAUL 2 IN BUFFALO

The Bisons scored two in the bottom of the ninth to win it.

Mark Contreras was 2-for-4 with a double.
Roy Morales was 2-for-4 with a double.

Josh Winder pitched four innings, giving up one run on one hit and two walks and striking out three.
Drew Strotman struck out two in a perfect inning.

The Saints are 33-34, in seventh place in the International League West, a half-game behind sixth-place Gwinnett, seven games behind Nashville.

SAN ANTONIO AT WICHITA

The game was suspended in the bottom of the fourth with the Wind Surge leading 2-1.  The game will be completed today before the regularly scheduled game.  I'm not sure why we say "regularly scheduled game", unless we consider the completion of this game to be an irregularly scheduled game.

The Wind Surge is 34-29, in second place in the Texas League North, three games behind Tulsa.

CEDAR RAPIDS 4, WEST MICHIGAN 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Seth Gray hit a two-run homer in the third to break a 1-1 tie.

Kennie Taylor was 2-for-3.
Gray 
was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his eighth.

Brent Headrick pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and one walk and striking out four.
Miguel Rodriguez somehow pitched a scoreless inning despite giving up four hits and two walks.  He struck out two.
Cody Laweryson pitched three innings, giving up one run on four hits and striking out three.

The Kernels are 43-22, in first place in the Midwest League West, 7.5 games ahead of Wisconsin.  They have clinched the first half championship.

LAKELAND 3, FORT MYERS 1 IN LAKELAND

Esney Chacon hit a two-run homer in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.

The Mighty Mussels had just three hits.

Starter Travis Adams pitched four innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out three.
Samuel Perez struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.
Regi Grace struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.

The Mighty Mussels are 40-23, in first place in the Florida State League West, 6.5 games ahead of Clearwater.  They have clinched the first half championship.
