  1. Since Wednesday afternoon, I have struggled with diarrhea, a little nausea, no appetite, fatigue, and the last two days with a slight fever, some sweating, and a bloody nose. NBBW and I took COVID tests this morning and they were both negative. I actually ate two meals today so that's a good change. I must have some kind of stomach bug or ??

  2. Just finished McCullough's Truman. Good read, good man.

I need to visit Truman's presidential library in Independence, MO now (have done FDR, LBJ, JFK, Reagan so far). Interesting how it's the trend to have a replica of their Oval Office in their library with their personal touches, chosen paintings, etc. Reagan had a replica of Air Force One in his, but it's kinda out in the sticks.

Funny thing at the end of the FDR mansion tour in Hyde Park, you finish in the basement, and right before you exit, there's a large file cabinet. It contained the FBI files maintained on Eleanor.

          1. I don't think that is quite right for Grant.

            1. Huh. The Repository disagrees

Grant's father wrote to Representative Thomas L. Hamer requesting that he nominate Ulysses to the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York. Despite political differences with Jesse Root Grant, Hamer, a Democrat, nominated his 17-year-old son to West Point in spring 1839.[24] Grant was accepted on July 1, although he doubted his academic abilities.[25] Hamer, unfamiliar with Grant, submitted an incorrect name to West Point. On September 14 Grant was enlisted Cadet "U.S. Grant" at the national academy.[26][d] His nickname at West Point became "Sam" among army colleagues since the initials "U.S." also stood for "Uncle Sam".[30][e]
