My youngest (11) broke her thumb in gymnastics 5 weeks ago. Now yesterday she broke the pinky finger on the other hand after a girl ran her over in soccer. She was just about back to full strength (she likes to play goalie), and now it all resets back.
Poor kid is our most aggressive, athletic child, which leads to more frequent injury. Now she's talking about not wanting to do any of it, not wanting to get hurt again, and I'm worried this will end her athletic career. I'm hoping she snaps out of it after a few days, though. I mean, it would be fine if she just doesn't want to take these risks any more, but also I hope she gets a chance to keep pushing her athletic boundaries for a little longer to see where she can go.
