  1. I hope everyone is taking proper precautions to avoid serious illness this winter. I've had my COVID booster and a flu shot and still got sick over the weekend. COVID test is negative so far and judging from the symptoms I'd say it's just a bad cold, no serious respiratory issues or fever or muscle aches or any of that, mostly just chills, cough, and congestion. I'm setting new records for mucous production.

    1. I had whatever cold or flu was going around a couple weeks ago and it wrecked me. I laid in bed for something like 16 straight hours. Fortunately it wasn't COVID, of which I've also been boosted, but man did it suck.

    2. Yea, this stuff just won't go away. I'm quadruple boosted, had COVID back in June, and still masking in stores. Most people are not, although many employees are. But at least non-maskers around here have the courtesy to not make comments or give weird looks.

My wife is über cautious, but got exposed a few days ago at a party with old, rich people. She was stuffed up when we talked last night, so 🤷‍♂️

You would think that the havoc rendered by this pandemic would have conditioned us to (a) get vaccinated, including flu shots, (b) mask when feasible and (c) stay the fuck home when ill. But everything seems to have trended toward ideological polarization.

Bright side: we are not China. Two years of draconian lockdowns with much worse vaccination of older folks in particular. They are in for a bad winter.

But when Elon gonna Elon for maximum click bait by spreading nonsense about bioterrorism though the jab and the evil fauchi overlord takeover plan....................... I fear that we're doomed. Maybe that's for the best.

        1. I am very happy to have extracted myself from the Doomscroll Machine (still checking DMs, rarely).

Mastodon is a much calmer space. So far.

    3. The Justice was super phlegmy on Christmas Eve night and we were about five minutes away from taking her to the Children's ER before our got a little better. She slept the rest of the night in my lap in the old baby rocker we haven't removed yet during our conversion of the nursery into an office. Having her sleep a foot from my face caught up with me today, and now I'm super congested and know it'll be a struggle to sleep tonight.

      1. No-knead is pretty easy. Time does most of the work.

Truth be told, I use my stand mixer to knead the dough a bit before letting time do its thing.
