What I've found, however, is that a lot of country sounds awful live. When you have to scream your drawl over cheering fans, it's really bad. Also, some of my favorite artists just don't sound that good out of the studio.
Blackhawk, to my pleasant surprise, sounds exactly the same. They're not my favorite band, but now I have more respect for them.
Van Stephenson on the far right died in 2001 of skin cancer. Country fans will notice Ricky Skaggs, not part of the band, in the mix here.

It was hard to just pick one song from these guys. But Neon Moon is the first song I ever danced to with a woman. It became "our song" I had with my high school sweetheart.

The Class of '57 is the song I feel highlights their vocal ranges the best while still being whimsical.
