2012-13 Game Logs: Game 15 Bucks @ Wolves

Tonight is the latest installment in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

Yeah, no one is going to trade for Derek Williams.

I don't want anyone for Sacramento on the Wolves. Ugh. I don't want to trade them their trash for our trash, Evans for Williams; I like Chuck Hayes plenty but not at 11 million and 2 years after this season. Hayes is above average player but I'd rather have Dante. That leaves the following trade:

Williams

for

Honeycutt and Bo Outlaw.

Le sigh.

The Wolves get Tyler Honeycutt who has just been assigned to the D-League and in exchange for the upgrade over Williams they have to take on the player that the amnesty clause could have been named after in Travis Outlaw. In case you were wondering, Outlaw has an even lower PER than Williams.

I wonder if our pal Derek could get sent to the D-League. At least this way he might get some minutes.

The Wolves should be able to win tonight, the game is a pick 'em. Also, if the Wolves don't win, wattsy, you are on gamelogs until the Wolves lose again. Deal?

2012-13 Game Logs: Wolves @ Golden State

Tonight is part five in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

Since the Wolves have already played the Warriors there isn't much sense in detailing the trade I have already mentioned. Instead let's make a list of things that Coach dislikes more than Derek Williams.

....

okay, so yeah. I will be at a wedding cutting up some rugs tonight. I might make it back in time to see the Wolves give up a 4th quarter lead.

Line: Wolves +3

2012-13 Game Logs: Game 11 Minnesota @ PDX

Tonight is part four in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

Portland and Minnesota have become rivals of sorts over the past couple of years. To think a rivilary coule be started as a result of a General Managers who developed a distrust from one another because one thought it was in poor taste to trade a player with a broken back while the other thought it to be brilliant. For what it is worth, if you are the one getting rid of the guy with a broken back I would call that a win for the organization.

Since that time there have been lawsuits, offer sheets, trade rumors, agent double speak, and offer sheets matched. The odds of these two teams dealing with each other in the future is probably limited. At least until the Blazers offer Pek a max contract this off season.

Speaking over huge contract offers, let's check in on Batum before looking at tonight's trade offer to unload Derek Williams.

20.1 ppg, 6 boards, 3.2 assists, 2 steals, 1.1 blocks.

and for the heck of it, let's look at AK.

13.8 ppg, 8.3 boards, 3 assists, 1.6 steals , 2.1 blocks

Batum can score a little bit more but it seems AK is giving more on the defensive end. Look for AK's ppg to go down with Love back, too. Not saying one is better than the other just pointing out the two off season targets for the Wolves.

And now, trade time!

Derek Williams and 2 first round picks for Batum.

PDX gets: Williams
Minnesota gets, Victor Claver, Will Barton, & Elliot Williams.

One of these players hasn't gotten off of Portland's bench, and the other two are averaging 5 min a game for a team with an awful bench.

We all really liked Will Barton coming into the draft though!

Wolves/Blazers tip off at 9pm CST. Blazers are -2.

2012-13 Game Logs: Game 10 Denver @ Minnesota

Tonight is part three in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

I mentioned something like this was going to happen during the last game log in part to illustrate how little trade value Derek Williams actually has and I have no intention of backing down from this trade offer tonight.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=brvwbvu

Derek William for Corey Brewer.

Here is possibly the worst part about this though, I can't see any reason at all why the Nuggets would make this trade. Denver has plenty of athletic players who can't shoot. They don't need another player like Williams. They, like the Wolves, need a player like Redick who can hit open shots. Then they could spell him with a player like Brewer. As much as it may pain Wolves fans to say at this point Brewer is a competent rotation player.

As for Denver, they have been a little up and down this season. They have a lot of depth and should be able to run a lot of other teams off of the court this season. The Nuggets will be able to use their depth and home court advantage to get a lot of wins this season but they started 3-5 on the road and don't have any shooters other than Gallinari.

The four days off should help the Wolves. Perk is coming back. JJ might be back, too. The Nuggets depth won't be as much of an advantage tonight and if their shots aren't falling the Wolves should be able to steal this one.

No line as of my writing.

2012-13 Game Logs: Game 9 Golden State @ Minnesota

Tonight is part two in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

After Derek Williams molasses like performance, without any of the sweetness, his trade value is down again. Time to peruse the Warriors line up and see what could help the Wolves.

So this trade is going to be a little bit harder to pull off. The cap numbers between the two teams don't match up favorably without either the Wolves giving up more than one player or the Warriors trading someone that would never, ever trade. Ideally we could do a one for one Jonny Flynn for Steph Curry but I don't think the Wolves have the rights to trade someone who is currently playing for the Melbourne Tigers.

There is is. A whopping seven player deal. The idea here is to get as many players onto the roster as possible since most of the team is hurt. The Wolves get a net gain of three players in this trade. Four if you take into consideration that JJ is currently hurt. This is exactly the kind of trade the Wolves need to make to ensure that Conroy, Lee, and the Steamer are not playing 40 minutes a night.

Oh by the way, if anyone was wondering, the Wolves gave Josh Howard $2.15 million pro-rated of the rest of the season. Yep.

The Wolves are 1 point dogs tonight and the o/u is 185.5. I will take some of the under.

2012-13 Game Logs: Game 8 Bobcats @ Wolves

Tonight I will start a new feature where I use trade machine and try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.

Tonight, the Charlotte Bobcats!

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a8lehsb

Yes, I am serious, Gerald Henderson and cap filler.

Henderson is a perfectly serviceable backup two guard which this team is probably going to need a lot of this season. Also it appears that Gerald Henderson is injured and the Wolves could always use more injured players. I know that we all want Biyombo but I can't imagine the Bobcats would give up anything of consequence for Williams.

Do you hear that Williams? Michael Jordan might not even trade an injured Gerald Henderson for you. What do you think about that?

Alright moving on, the Bobcats are a little frisky and are coming off a win last night. The Wolves roster is going to be patchwork at best. If I were a betting man I think the under is going to provide good value tonight at 181.5.
