From one of the most enduring albums for me. Perfectly melancholy, and you can dance to it! Sometimes.

Frank Sinatra – You Make Me Feel So Young
Why not?
James Bay – Hold Back the River
Playing my daughter Miette’s favorite song for her birthday.
VNV Nation – Everything
It’s possible I’ve played this before, but my brother got me to listen to these guys and they’re a (guilty?) pleasure.
Level 42 — Leaving Me Now
Mark King, one of the better bass players out there
Pat Metheny Group — The Gathering Sky
The pride of KC
Bear McCreary — Prelude to War (From Battlestar Galactica)
Bear has made a solid name for himself in the soundtrack world; Mrs. Runner even knows of his work (Outlander soundtracks)
And my favorite of his works:
Eric Whitacre – Lux Aurumque
My choir director is always regaling us with St. Olaf choir raves*, and I'm always impressing on him that Concordia College (Moorhead) is just as accomplished, in their own style. René Clausen conducts this masterpiece, and you can hear the cool precision of the voices.
*it's gratifying to see the MN choir gems getting cred from MO music educators
King Huron – Wait by the River
I don't know King Huron from Adam, but I like this song when it pops up on the radio. One of my song of the year nominations.
James Horner — Playing a Game of “Go”
RIP James Horner -- would have been 65 today
From A Beautiful Mind soundtrack
