Her’s – Harvey

A week before last, a wrong way driver hit a van going the opposite direction. He and all three occupants of the van were likely immediately killed. In the van was the members of the band Her's, an up and coming band from Liverpool. Also in the van was their tour manager, my good friend Trevor.

I always thought this was the case, but I've been surprised to find out just how much of an impact Trevor had on the local scene. I've been trying real hard not to think about it, but if you don't mind, I'm going to take the next few days to remember my friend.

Today, we'll listen to Stephen Fitzpatrick & Audun Laading of Her's, also taken far too soon.

Game 80: Dang, I missed the halfway point by one game.

Hughes (3-7, 4.82 ERA) vs. Lake Deduno (4-2, 3.32 ERA)

Ugh, I'm not sure if the demoralizing defeats were worse back when the Yankees actually had a scary lineup, or if its worse watching Gardy trot out what I assume (without being able to see) is a Jared Burton with a lingering health issue followed by a Deunsing who can't get righties or lefties out night after night. I think the latter is worse when taking into account the number of pitchers on the roster.

On the bright side, the Yankees and Twins are similarly behind the leaders in their division, so we got that going for us.

Game 55: The Third Place Twins vs. The Where you Expect Them To Be Royals

Lake Deduderino (1-1, 5.11 ERA) vs. Mendoza (1-2, 4.63 ERA)

Hey, its Tuesday!

I just found out Deduno's middle name is Lake, which should make him a great fit for Minnesota because of lakes. Anyway, while I can't read his mind, I expect he'd like to build off of a pretty good start last week against Milwaukee in which he threw the most innings in a game a starter has thrown for the Twins since, I think and without looking this up, Johan Santana was with the team. Granted, it came against what is a very, very bad Brewers team, but on the bright side, this start is coming against a very bad Royals team. Plus, per Pos's recent column on the subject, they hate walks, which is good for Deduno.

More importantly, today marks the return of Clete Thomas. I know the anticipation was thick, and now all that waiting should finally pay off. Probably in the form of many, many strikeouts, though.

Hopefully, the power can continue and the Twins can do what they ought to be able to do against the lowly Royals.
