A solid game for Pat Dean. Not much offense for the MIracle. Jared Wilson keeps the Kernels unbeaten. It's not a sweep, but two out of three ain't bad!
The third sweep in four days! Aaron Hicks gets in his licks for the Red Wings. Buxton leads the Lookouts to a win in a bullpen game. Ryan Eades was brilliant for the Miracle. Felix Jorge was brillianter for the Kernels!
Only half a week, really. I know it doesn't mean much, but it's kind of fun.
Stranded runners lead to losses for Rochester and Fort Myers. D. J. Baxendale with a strong performance for Chattanooga. A Zac Attack leads Cedar Rapids.
A second consecutive sweep for Twins affiliates! Josmil Pinto and Taylor Rogers lift Rochester. Adam Brett Walker II hits his first homer for Chattanooga. Marcus Knecht ties it and Alex Swim wins it for Fort Myers. Steven Gonsalves carries Cedar Rapids.
A mighty wind causes a postponement for Rochester. Berrios is great and Polanco is grand for Chattanooga. Slegers was darn good and Goodrum was good enough for Fort Myers. Gordon drives in two key runs for Cedar Rapids.
Brock Peterson and Josmil Pinto carry the Red Wings. Walks lead to a late-inning loss for the Lookouts. The Miracle gets blanked. Mat missed a lot of Batts for the Kernels.
Minor league seasons start today! Oddly, all four Twins' affiliates begin their seasons on the road. Here are the matchups:
1:05 Rochester (Alex Meyer) at Buffalo (Andrew Albers)
5:30 Fort Myers (Kohl Stewart) at Charlotte (Drew Smyly)
6:30 Cedar Rapids (Mat Batts) at Kane County (Brent Jones
7:05 Chattanooga (TBA) at Montgomery (TBA)
The Twins have a new AA affiliate: the Chattanooga Lookouts. That means two things: 1) I have to remember how to spell Chattanooga (two ts, one n, two os) and 2) we have a bunch of new opponents. It's good-bye Eastern League, hello Southern League. Good-bye New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Richmond Flying Squirrels, hello Montgomery Biscuits and Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Here's a quick look at the teams of the Southern League. Again, "notables" is a list of names you might recognize, not a scouting report, and is based on rosters listed on milb.com this morning.
