A day game? Well, I'm at work and didn't realize that last night would have been the time to do this. Whoops.
Tyson Ross vs. Nick Blackburn. Blackburn has been saving his spot in the rotation over the past few starts, and Ross has been a revelation in what should still qualify as his rookie year, thus far going ERA 2.50/FIP 3.03 /xFIP 3.69. He does have an unsustainably low HR/FB rate, and if anyone's going to fix that, it's this Twins lineup!!11!11
Seriously, though, let's add to this little winning streak.
WGOM represent! At the game with my wife, sister & brother-in-law. Left field bleachers, 3 rows deep. How about a souvenir?
Have fun, Corn. Are you gonna make it up my way this weekend? I'm available, but the family is out (band trips to southern Cali for both kids and the Mrs.).
bachelorS
shenanigans to follow.
Don't think so. The wife confirmed with a friend in Modesto so we're heading the wrong direction for a visit. Next time for sure - enjoy the "free" weekend.
bummer. for me, AND for you. Modesto: Gateway to Fresno.
Afternoon, folks.
Whats shakin' meat?
Spantastic at the beginning.
Hey we knocked their pitcher out.
LaRussa must be back!~!11!
The future of baseball: the 27-man bullpen.
Hey now...Ross didn't even record an out...you want some pitcher to have to go 2?
You gotta play the percentages against Plouffe.
That run on second is his.
Spooky - still thinking on that 2011 Blackburn wager?
Yeah. We should probably, uh, get something moving on that. I'll look at some options.
Wow. Losing your pitcher to an injury one batter in sucks rocks. What did he do?
He came up with pain in his left rib after a pitch.
Reminds me of when John Lackey was ejected after two pitches back in '09. Since it wasn't an injury, I think he might have even started the next day.
Looks like he sat out a game, maybe a one-game suspension?
That would make sense.
Twitter for the A's beat reporter says Ross was grabbing his side. Did he strain something?
The pitch didn't look awkward, really. Something just happened inside. He didn't look to be in great pain, so maybe it's precautionary.
Just saying: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7149919@N02/4539372615/
I noticed that on her Twitter icon. In that picture she reminds me quite a lot of a friend in Ireland.*
*Semi-related note - My buddy just got back from 3 weeks in Europe - Amsterdam, Sevilla, Edinburgh, and Dublin. He said "Man, Irish girls are not at all attractive." "Give it six months, you'll change your mind" (This friend was actually quite pretty)
I know only one Irish person well, and she's probably one of the five hottest girls I've ever known.
When they're gorgeous, they are absolutely gorgeous. The problem is that's a very small percentage of the total population. And their "average" isn't all that great.
It's sorta like 1 Lisa Simpson in a room full of Ralph Wiggums. One test score will be off the charts, but the rest...woof.
Magoo -- another recipe post goes up later this afternoon. I'm here to keep you in do chillin's good graces, buddy.
Thanks, pal. I was really in her good graces yesterday, if you get my meaning
*Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, Say no more*
Well, you know, the way to a woman's, uh, heart, is through her stomach.
I hate the pause before the strike call with this ump.
I don't either, but at least he's not one of the bellowing look-at-me clowns out there.
Kubel'd.
I love me some Kubes and DSPAN2
This would be a good place for some Canadian Club.
What about The Illusionist?
the runs!
Also woot Cuddyer
Not juicy.
Early leads are good! I remember them!
Do we get Good Blackie or Bad Blackie today?
WWWWWWWGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fun to yell.
You do not run on Rivera?
Sweet throw!
I did not know our non-Butters catcher was allowed to do that.
butera who?
Of course, it just avoided the double play.
SPANTASTIC!!!!!
DSPAN2!
Left oblique strain for Ross. I doubt he'll be pitching for awhile.
Left oblique strain is the official word on Ross, for those not seeing the game.
WTF!!??!?!?!
Rivera's allowed to do that?
Butters who?
Rivera?
I'll take it!
hahahha Rivera! Donger!
Rivera is now tied for 5th most homers on the team!
gross
I just came on quick to say: what the hell?
second.
Well, looky there.
C'mon Casilla. Time for the back-to-back.
I got greedy.
spantastic
I did not see that coming. How close was Corn to that I wonder?
Even if he was close, I assume he was too stunned to move.
Co'C watching Rivera's HR*
*Artist's depiction
About 150' to my right. Stunned is right, I was just happy it stayed fair! The cook on the party deck caught it.
Plouffe isn't hitting very well...or fielding very well, but I feel he is the best hope for the Twins at short and could get better.
Oooh, I just realized that Plouffe is from Encino. Creating an obvious nickname opportunity.
california man?
Plouffe was leading the team in OPS coming into this game.
Missed being Kubel'd by That Much.
If Purcey stays in much longer, Rivera won't be the only one getting a donger off of him.
To paraphrase the word on Cris Carter, "All Rivera does is hit homers."
Three true outcomes express.
Oh wow. They just replayed the Cuddyer home plate play from last season on the Oakland feed.
I don't ever want to see that again.
Pennington pwns Blackie.
24 strikes in 35 pitches for Blackburn. That makes me juuust a little nervous, him catching that much of the plate.
Only one swinging strike. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the game.
So much for that theory.
Q: What was that whizzing by Delmon just now?
A: The Mendozza line.
From the replays on Gameday, he's been somewhat unlucky in both at-bats today.
HR...Check
Walk...Check
Looks like Rivera is striking out next time he's up.
Purcey pitches around Rivera. True outcomes!
Pitched around Casilla too. Dangerous part of the lineup averted.
I popped back in again quick to say: Casilla with an 11-pitch walk. What the hell?
six foul balls in the AB.
I'd pull a pitcher for walking Lexi too.
Dick says that Casilla literally worked a walk. Uh, is there a figurative equivalent there?
You don't work for an intentional walk.
Huh. Alright, Dick, you win this round...though I doubt you understand why.
Breslow makes me sad 🙁
For Henn. Sean mothergrabbing Henn.
Hey, leave me out of this!
The Oakland bullpen is like a Twins reunion meeting.
Mountie!!
Sweet. Morny making the front office look good.
Whoa, boys, save some for tomorrow!
I'd kinda like for our better relievers to get a day off.
It's obvious that the Twins heavy hitters like playing for Blackie. They know which side their bread is Butters... er, buttered... on.
Clubbed!
Happy days are here again
the skies above are clear again
WHOA! My first pro-Twins spooky moment of the year.
Are you saying you didn't spooky Rivera's home run?
Amazingly, I didn't see that one coming.
Woooooo, adventures in fielding
He's just making Cuddy look more versatile.
freakin' Delmon uno
[rolled eyes.jpg]
Good news everybody!
The pitchers get to hit this weekend.
The bad news?
They aren't taking the place of the Casillas and Buttersss.
Hey Rowsdower, when is too soon to get together for meal & a game again? I'm around Monday night; kinda want to check out DJ's Dugout sometime.
Monday should be good, but let me check with the boss first and make sure I'm not doing something I don't know about yet.
Is this an awkward pause in the conversation?
....Lexi.
/eyes roll/
Morneau's back. Called it yesterday. He'll never go hitless again!
It's about freaking time.
You mean it's acting up again? Poor guy just can't get a break... ooohh. Never mind.
Morneau's back is back, I mean. Wait, what do I mean?
Five runs? WHO ARE THESE GUYS
Magnuson throws a pitch in the dirt to prevent another Delmon uno
No worries though, _elm_n had his back on the next pitch.
Seven runs! WHO ARE THESE GUYS?
Tied for the third most runs we've scored now.
We've never scored six and have only scored five on four occasions. The distribution is so ugly.
Looks like we will continue to have never scored six.
THEY ARE WHO WE WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!
I missed a Jason Morneau AND some dude named Rivera hit homers...dang!
didn't miss THAT one, though
Too many runs this inning, we screwed up the save situation.
Take it home guys, I'm out of here. Going to the Omaha Storm Chasers game tonight.
Of all the great names available to teams in
OklahomaOmaha, they had to pick "Storm Chasers."Why should Omaha have stolen a great Oklahoma name?
Of course, I'm listening to the news with my other ear, and someone said Oklahoma, so I typed that.
Plouffe da!
I like this one ^^^^
PLOUFFE
Holy smoke.
A Plouffe of smoke. (M's announcers were pronouncing it "Pluff").
Holy crap!
Not bad for a team that came in averaging 3.12 runs a game...
You can put that under the category: Things that Plouffe can do that Casilla can't.
Holy cr@p is right. Bottle this!
That edit button is pretty fickle.
Guessing ran out of time? It has a default limit of five minutes, which I just doubled.
I can see the button on my mobile, but not on my desk top.
Not a throw Danny V. should be making with Cuddyer(or any other Twin) at first.
I step away to pick up stuff for dinner and the Twins decide to blow up the A's. Get out the jasper johns.
Okay, so now it's doo-MAH-tray today, I guess.
I'm going with DOOM-trait.
I'm still pushing for Dump Truck.
I think Revere would've caught that easily...
bringing out the scrubs
Delmon is going to hit a homer here
I'll take an rbi single
Groundball single is as good as a homer for him this season.
Stat-padding time.
11 runs!
All alone as the most all season.
Those 3 errors kind of ugly up the scoreline.
Septicpants!
consult the style book, 'toy. We would have accepted "Septicscents".
Yeah, but Septicpants made me giggle more.
I think it works.
Sparesnacks!
This game drove our runs per game all the way up to 3.31!!!
Hey, was this our first sweep?
Chicago White Sux, dude.
Sweet.
Wow, that's a hell of a thing to forget.
It is the first 3 game sweep
yea, a two-gamer is more of a brush-off.
Well, it would be, if it had been a three-game sweep...
Indians (Rain-aided)
Geeze, step out for a commute home and miss a 6-spot.
Edit buttons and eleven runs. A good day!
Puppies!
