Kohl Stewart makes his pro debut. Drew Butera homered! Elizabethton blows a big lead late.

ROCHESTER 6, PAWTUCKET 2 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars: Drew Butera had a two-run home run and a single; Chris Colabello had a double, a walk and an RBI; Deibinson Romero had a two-run single.

Pitching stars: Pedro Hernandez allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings. He struck out 3 and walked 3. Aaron Thompson got a three-inning save. He gave up 3 hits and a walk and struck out 3.

Key inning: The third. Pawtucket's Dan Butler homered to lead off the inning to make it 1-0. A walk and a single put two runners on with one out, but a forceout and a lineout to Romero at third ended the threat. In the bottom of the inning, Butera homered after Olmedo drew a leadoff walk. With two outs, Colabello walked and Jeff Clement and Romero followed with singles to make it 3-1.

NEW BRITAIN 6, PORTLAND 4 IN PORTLAND

Batting stars: Eddie Rosario had a triple, a single and an RBI; Josmil Pinto homered and walked; Reynaldo Rodriguez doubled and walked; Jordan Parraz hit a 3-run homer.

Pitching star: Cole Johnson pitched two scoreless and hitless innings. He walked 2 and struck out 3.

Key inning: The ninth. With the game tied4-4 in the top of the inning, Rodriguez led off  a double, Parraz sacrificed him to third and Miguel Sano hit a pinch-hit double to make it 5-4. With two outs, Rosario singled to score Sano.

Prospect watch: Trevor May gave up 4 runs in the first inning, but that was it through 6 innings. He allowed 8 hits and a walk while striking out 6. He retired 10 straight batters at one point.

CEDAR RAPIDS 3, WISCONSIN 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars: Dalton Hicks homered and singled; Adam Brett Walker II hit a two-run home run; Travis Harrison was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars: Josue Montanez (3-1) went 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed 3 hits and 2 BBs with 5 Ks. Tyler Jones pitched 2 shutout innings to earn the save. He allowed just one single and struck out 2.

Prospect watch: Max Kepler went 0-for-3 with an hbp. Jorge Polanco was 1-for-4 with 2 Ks.

BLUEFIELD 6, ELIZABETHTON 5 IN BLUEFIELD

Batting stars: Logan Wade had a home run and a triple with 3 RBIs; Mitch Garver was 2-for-4 with an RBI; Zach Granite doubled and walked.

Pitching star: Felix Jorge gave up 1 hit and no walks in 5 shutout innings. He struck out 4 and lowered his ERA to 0.73.

Key inning: The 8th. Bluefield scored all 6 of its runs in the bottom of the 8th to overcome a 5-0 deficit. John Silviano struck out twice in the inning. In between, Bluefield got four hits and three walks. The big blow was a two-run double by Matt Dean to put Bluefield ahead. All the scoring came with two outs.

GCL RAYS 4, GCL TWINS 3 AT GCL TWINS

Batting star: Evan Bigley doubled and singled.

Pitching star: Fernando Romero pitched 3 hitless innings in relief. He struck out 5 and walked 1.

Key inning: The sixth. In a tie game, the Rays got a walk, hbp and a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly and a two-out RBI single made it 4-2.

Prospect watch: Kohl Stewart made his pro debut. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He struck out 2 and walked none. Amaurys Minier had a pinch-hit single.
