    1. seriously, that was an awful wild pitch. missed the catcher by about 10 feet high

  1. MLB.tv's web viewer is pretty resource intensive, but the MLB Viewer for Ubuntu a lot lighter, but lags by about a minute or so. What to do, what to do...

  2. I completely forgot Miguel Tejada was still in the league. He threw me a ball at Metrodome batting practice when he was with the A's. It was the summer I graduated HS, so 10 years ago.

  3. been flipping between the game and 'Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii' concert from PBS. Not the biggest Elvis guy, but man alive he is cranking out the tunes here.

  4. coming into the game, Deduno had a WHIP of 1.287 and allowed only 8.0 h/9

those numbers are going to go up

  5. Bremer to Bert: 'why do you think Deduno does not get a lot of strikeouts?'
Bert: 'well, he needs one here.'

    *facepalm*

    1. Deduno is pretty good about getting strikeouts when he really needs them. I just wish all the seeing-eye singles would go away.

  6. I just realized it's Atteberry and Provus on the radio tonight. I like this pairing, wish it happened more often.

  7. I'm going to make a call here. If Dozier gets up in the 9th inning, he's going to complete the cycle.

  8. Why is there a baseball team called "Royals". This is the United States of AMERICA! We don't have "Royals" in AMERICA! There should not be "Royals" playing the AMERICAN game in the AMERICAN League. Let them go back to England and play Cricket or Rounders or whatever the heck they play over there. We'll just have to settle for 100-62!

    1. From the Baseball Almanac:

The team was named the Royals as a respectful nod to the "American Royal" - an annual livestock show/horse show/rodeo/BBQ contest held each year in Kansas City since 1899.

      1. Well I thought it was a nod to teams like the Monarchs and Kings.
I see now that the Royals preceded the Kings.
