Around the end of my junior year, things started to get set in motion for where I would end up musically. It started, like with a lot of people, with Metallica (the Sam Adams of the metal world, although the comparison breaks down in that Sam Adams continues to make solid, if unspectacular beer while Metallica does not do that anymore.) I started with Re-Load, however, so its a wonder I kept up with it. At the same time, when I was 16 I started working at the Dairy Queen in Somerset, WI. One of my co-workers was pretty obsessed with all things Metallica, so by the time I got to Re-Load I was ready to pick up some earlier stuff from them. Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning got a lot of play from high school senior me. It all set up the stage for college and a lot of bandwidth to discover what I liked and dig deeply into it.
I should probably also note that I was at this show (or one of the three they played). Sevendust and Kid Rock were the openers and I am proud to say that I hated Kid Rock even back then.
Tying in to yesterday:
The second time I saw Monster Magnet, Kid Rock opened. I also was not a fan.
I've also seen Metallica twice.
Once at Lollapalooza in Des Moines.
I was also fortunate enough to see Metallica twice with kids rock opening both frickin times. Second time was in Denver at Mile High, so at least I couldn't hear it.
This has happened each day, so I'm going to note that when you're in the Visual post mode, you should not be manually entering HTML codes. When you need to bold or italicize text, select it and click the B or I buttons at the left of the editing toolbar above the text entry.
I should really just type in text mode. I'm so used to typing in the tags on normal LTE's. Stupid brain.
yea. I'm in favor of text mode. Visual mode just screws me up.
If I learned anything yesterday, it's that I shouldn't be embarrassed to admit that I still kind of dig this song.
