Sorry, it's been a Fall, Caesar morning. Here's to assassinating the Astros. Or something.

Okay, it's game #119 if anyone must know.
I must know! I must know!
Mauer extends his hitting streak.
I don't understand replay anymore.
Outfielders? We don't need no stinkin' outfielders!
um, well not in this case at least
Mauer Pauer!
The guy can't even hit a proper double.
P*ssy singles hitter!!!

Provus & Atteberry pointed out that Arcia is coming to bat with the bases loaded every nine AB.
Looks like Schafer either really bunts well, or he bunts badly.
Mostly badly.
No, I think he bunts okay, but he sacrifices poorly. Or something like that
I dunno about sacrificing, he always seems to get himself out just fine.
Had an outstanding bunt single last night
I missed that one. I've been around for lots of his flubs, but mostly just wanted to make joak.
You might be thinking of Santana. Schafer did reach on a bunt, but it was right back to the pitcher, who fumbled it for an error. Before tonight, Schafer is 1-for-14 when he bunts with 5 sac bunts, so when he actually he gets a bunt down, he's reached base (other than on errors) just once in 19 tries, which is just awful for a guy with his speed. For his career, he's batting .353 on bunts (which I don't think includes the 20 sac bunts he has), so he might be just in a bunting "slump" where he's trying to do too much, but so far, he's been awful at bunting from what I've seen.
Yeah, Santana is a pretty good choice for leadoff batter
But an awkward interview. Work on that, Danny
I really dislike the contact play unless it's necessary to stay out of a double play.
And the Twins never seem to get it to work.
I don't mind it too much with runners at 2nd & 3rd and a speedy runner at third, which was the situation in this game, but with Mauer on deck, I didn't like it, especially the way he's been swinging. Yes, they could walk Mauer intentionally, but would you rather have Mauer up with runners at 1st and 2nd or Vargas up with the bases loaded? I do wish someone had data on how often the contact play works.
So do I. My feeling is it doesn't work very often, but that could just be because it's so frustrating when it doesn't work that I remember that and forget the times it does work.
