Back in the oughts I furiously consumed movies. I loved filmmaking and cinematography. I'd even watch extremely depressing fair like Dancer in the Dark. This is one of the many beautiful sections of that movie, and basically a music video.

I've never seen the movie*, but the version of this song on the companion album, Selmasongs was a duet with Thom Yorke.
Will Oldham covered the song on the covers EP, Ask Forgiveness:

*Given that I've since watched Van Trier's Dogville and read enough reviews of his movies, I'm not expecting to.
Okay, I have a rather ugly confession to make. I don't like Björk's music. At all. I've tried a number of times, and I just can't get into it. I even own Volta (dollar store pickup - just enough of a novelty to find Björk in a dollar store that I had to pull the trigger), but the only part I like about that is Antony's parts.
I don't think it's the voice, because I've come around quite a bit on Joanna Newsom. I just... don't get it.
Not even "It's Oh So Quiet"? Quite different from most of her stuff.
I'm with Nibs here. And sorry It's Oh So Quiet is on top of the list of reasons why.
Doesn't bother me none!
It's a novelty cut. A cover of an old song done in period style.
She had a whole album, Gling-glo of things like these in Icelandic between the breakup of the Sugarcubes and Debut.
Speaking of, Sugarcubes:

Volta is not good, the start of her steep decline, the best part of that album is the first duet with Antony.
Try these, (presented chronologically):
Hyper-ballad. (I'd link to the video, but it's a fade-out edit and subtly different vocal take and mix than the album (why?). This live-in-studio version is the best.)

Triumph of a Heart (listen and look for Rahzel, Mike Patton, and Tagaq (I can't remember if they're in the video version or even the album version))

"Desired Constellation" is probably my favorite song of hers that was never a single:

After BJHess mentioned HS in the next video's introduction, I feel compelled to mention that my second* batch of Senior Pictures were shot listening to Post. The photog asked me to write down her name and the album because he wanted to buy it.
*the first ones did not turn out, I was not comfortable at their studio. It was the upstart photog haus in NU, and relatives of Mom's friends or co-workers or something. There was country music playing. (This is 1995, go listen to the top 40 country tunes that year if you dare. I didn't notice that "Good Country" was not an oxymoron for many years.) I didn't have fun, I didn't wear the clothes I wanted to, and I didn't look like me. Second set: longstanding photog in town who I clicked with instantly, my rainbow tie-died tee and Champion sweatshirt (and something more formal), and some goofy poses including one that I actually used as one of my four "choices".
I want to see these photos.
It might take a while. In the interim, here's a picture of me in the shirt maybe two years later. I've only worn the Horseshoe moustache a few times, but this was one of them.
Hell, I'll embed:
Delightful!
