Hey guess what? Its a yickit week of guest DJ videos. I couldn't decide what to start with so I'll post a second video in the comments. I know its probably terrible, but I listened to this album about a million times in college.
This is the first song
I own all of New Found Glory and All American Rejects albums. They're not quite guilty pleasures for me, but they're pretty close. I mean I do feel a little guilt popping in there somewhere.
I'll cop to having enjoyed AAR a fair bit in my day. Move Along soundtracked a number of Linds and I's road trips (they represent a safe overlap of our musical tastes, and that part of the venn diagram is a sliver, indeed).
Dido - a third group that falls into this "category" for me is Switchfoot, though I don't feel much guilt for liking mainstream music. Popular, catchy, approachable music shouldn't be sneered at simply because it appeals to the masses.
Ah, Switchfoot. I just listened to them the other day. Brought me back.
I didn't like Switchfoot's real early stuff all that much because it seemed like every song was basically the same. Then "Oh, Gravity" came out in '06. That was an amazing album that really rocked. Their latest album, "Fading West" could be their best, though. "Hello, Hurricane" was also great. Plus, they made "Fading West," the movie, which looks pretty cool on the trailer but I haven't sat down and watched yet.
I like their first three albums. Oh, Gravity is oddly where I start losing them.
I really got into them around New Way to Be Human. It was around that time that we saw them at Sonshine, and my best friend told them that they "had potential". They...really didn't know how to respond to that.
If you like their early stuff, then I think you'd like "Fading West." It doesn't rock as hard as "Oh, Gravity" and "Hello, Hurricane" but it's just really good music and pretty relaxed. It was written to go with their movie, which had a lot of surfing themes in it.
I enjoyed the early stuff, but I didn't keep up with their albums after Beautiful Letdown. I can still listen to that one pretty much front-to-back.

Heh.
Welcome, Yickit, to the land of multiple comments and zero ratings!
I was thinking the same - I wanted to rate it, but I can't get the video to play on my work computer - just keep getting the busy "loading" signal.
