As per usual, I listened to a lot of new music this year. Only problem is that it was only new to me. But! I did listen some stuff actually released this year. I definitely had a year of somewhat cheesy power metal, so my favorite from the past 12 months was the second album, Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards, from an awesome band I recently discovered:

(The video for this song is pretty fantastic as well)

With a shout out to Spooky, I picked up Tribulation's The Children of the Night.

Enslaved came out with a new album, In Times, which was expectedly great.

So I guess, despite what I said above, it was more of a year for progressive black metal.
Stars, please?
You were absolutely right, the official video is pretty fantastic.
I would totally listen to that if it was not in a language I could understand. (Read: if it was Japanese and attached to a TV-MA cartoon. Giant humanoids that eat humans not required.)
Cripes, this could be HPR's favorite thing ever. I'd better keep it away, or he'll never again ask for Colin Stetson.
Cheap: not that you're usually looking for stars, but I did want to let you know my rating is for the first video, which is long and disorganized. You'd get a higher rating for the studio version.
Hey, no worries. I'm pretty aware that the videos I post end up rated lower anyway, comes with the territory. Also, its unsurprisingly difficult to find good live videos of lesser known metal bands.
I feel you.
Imagine the problems I'm having looking for clips of Aaron Dilloway (Noise, see the annoying clip with the rubber mask image on the FMD thread).
