Game 16: Twins at New York

Pablo Lopez!

Through three starts, he's been very very good and there's not a whole lot of things more fun to watch in baseball than a really good pitcher pitching really well for your team.

The Twins will either take three of four on the road in New York or end up with a series split in the most disappointing way by dropping the final two games of the series.

I have to say I like their chances with Pablo on the mound.

The Yankees are pitching some no name starter who probably doesn't even throw that hard (Gerrit Cole), so I'll just assume the Twins have the upper hand here.

  1. Dick: "there is a new pitch out there called a 'slutter''"
    LaTroy: *guffaws*
Dick: "which is a hybrid between a cutter and a slider"
    ....
LaTroy:"What did you say, is that a new pitch, the slutter?"
Dick: "I havent called it that but you know thats the new term..."
LaTroy: "Yeahs thats new new. We had that back in the late 90s"
Dick:"Same pitch but it didnt have that name on it"
LaTroy: "It had that name, we just never talked about it on the air"

    😆

    1. OAA doesn't split up the various components, but does have him at average so far in the season. Correa, Farmer, and Taylor all are +1 in fielding while Julien has already managed -1 runs.

      1. I'm glad I missed that when it happened, so stupid. On the other hand, the Twins are at least going to split this series and the Yankees had to cheat in one game to make it that way, so that's a positive read on it.

            1. “…the ass bats in full force.”

Stopped by to see if *ass bats* had been revived for the season.

      1. I don't see anything in the rulebook that a hit-by-pitch has to hit them on the fly

He is touched by a pitched ball which he is not attempting to hit unless (1) The ball
is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, or (2) The batter makes no attempt to
        avoid being touched by the ball;
If the ball is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, it shall be called a strike,
whether or not the batter tries to avoid the ball. If the ball is outside the strike zone
when it touches the batter, it shall be called a ball if he makes no attempt to avoid
        being touched.

    1. Dick & LaTroy are talking about this, and I don’t know why they aren’t citing the outfield wall minimum distance rule exemption MLB granted the Yankmes when they abandoned old Yankee Stadium.
