After six months of staring out the window waiting for spring, the home opener has finally arrived. The boys are back in town and sitting in a five-way tie for first place in the AL Central. While the boys got off to a slow start (again) this year, dropping four in a row, they managed a series win against the White Sox and make their home debut today sporting a 2-4 record.
After going 0-18 at the plate to start the season, C4 finally got off the schneid and collected a couple of hits last night. The big surprise of the season so far, though, has to be Harrison Bader. Three of his four hits to date have been home runs, he's scored three and driven in eight. So while his batting average and OBP are sitting at .250, he's sporting a 1.125 OPS. That's not sustainable, of course, but Bader has been one of the brighter spot in the lineup so far.
Joe Ryan takes the mound for the Twins in his second start of the season today. He did not factor in the decision in his season debut, but pitched to a 1.80 ERA with five strikeouts. Houston counters on the mound today with Hunter Brown. He lost his first start this year while compiling a 3.00 ERA in six innings. That's all I got. Going to be a long season, hopefully with enough highlights and wins to keep it interesting through September.
Play ball!
Wallner gets his one triple early this season.
first inning run!
I have incredibly bad timing.
too much time sitting in the dugout
In more encouraging news, Buxton leads MLB in sprint speed at 29.5 ft/s.
Been trying to think of which former Twin Bader’s body type reminds me of, and it finally came to me: Marty Cordova.
I liked first inning Joe Ryan more than 4th inning Joe Ryan
Do the 'Stros have any White Sox relievers in their 'pen?
At this rate, we lose the first four home games as well and still find ourselves in first place
