Paw – Jessie

In the first half of the 90's I learned I liked music. Like really liked music. So, yeah, I'm a grunge child.

I "discovered" Paw from a Road Rash video game soundtrack of all things. Remember "discovering" bands? I always felt such ownership of the bands I liked back then.

I think "Jessie" was their highest-charting tune, which means it probably didn't chart at all.

Did you know I started dating my wife in 8th grade? And her name is Jesse? She has really never appreciated my love of this song.

  1. I didn't remember anything about this until I got the the end of the clip and saw the CD cover.
    I remember seeing that.
They remind me of my friends' band that wanted to sounded like Soundvana in Jams but came out more Collective Templebox.
The singer/guitarist/primary songwriter made something out of it though:

  2. Songs I like better than this one – from the same album.

    Sleeping Bag:

The Bridge (Road Rash promotional video?):

To be honest, I love the whole album, Dragline. Being honest.

Ah, Road Rash. I know at least four or five other people that distinctly remember searching out bands from it, and that's not even counting my friends and I, who would play the game quite often. Such a ridiculous game, such a weirdly influential soundtrack.

Also, "discovering" bands is awesome. Finding a song you liked, only to dig deeper and find that it isn't even the artist's best is a special kind of thing.

    1. My memory is probably wrong, but I think I found Soundgarden from that soundtrack as well. And I remembered doodling a Monster Magnet logo on my notebook, even though I doubt I ever heard one more song from them.

      This it?
