He's not going to like coming out of the pen, but that's how he started his career. He's the definitely the young pup compared to my rotation, and he'll be there in case a starter goes down.

I missed the run on flame-throwing relievers, but I'm happy to have Hiller and Oswalt going multiple innings to put out fires (plus, Cy Young and Warren Spahn love to finish what they start). Still, I want someone who brings some gas (and who might terrify someone willing to dig in against him) just in case.
How about someone who threw seven no-hitters in one season (top that, Nolan Ryan!)? Someone who allegedly struck out 25 batters in one game (top that, Roger Clemens!)? Someone who supposedly threw harder than Bob Feller, and was as willing to come inside as Pedro Martinez? Someone who was given a fantastic nickname because his fastball was so hard to hit?

He had a short peak, but he was as dominant as any reliever in history during his peak. Plus, cool goggles.
I'm going with a reserve corner infielder here. He only ever played 3rd base, but considering he was a reasonably good defender, I'm going to assume he could shift over to first as needed.
Among third basemen, he's 20th in WAR7 and 26th in WAR, and has a career OPS+ of 133 Seems like a reasonable backup for this super all-star league.
I guess I should probably get a 5th starter. I don't have any lefty starters yet. Most similar pitcher according to Baseball Reference is Fernando. 7 gold gloves. 2 all star game.
I want a lefty for my bullpen, and if I ever need another starter, this guy managed to win an MVP award as a pitcher, so I think he'll cut the mustard.
Given the fact that he throws heat, he seems especially eligible as a bullpen guy. I love the idea of a power lefty. He also had some pretty good bullpen appearances in his career, including 4 innings of shutout ball in the ALCS, which is a thing I just learned if Wikipedia is to be believed.
