Hacker was likely going to start the second game of the doubleheader against Tampa Bay, but was instead used as a long reliever in the Tuesday game after Liriano allowed three baserunners in the third. Hacker let all three score, but didn't let any of his own baserunners score until one scored on a Cuddy error in the seventh. After the game he was demoted and Swarzak was recalled to start the second game on Wednesday.
