England's Fair Play entrant into the Europa League nearly decided.
Chelsea lead England's fair play table, but they've already qualified for the CL. Next up are Fulham and Spurs. If Fulham finishes above Spurs (in the fair play table that is), they're into the EL. If Spurs finish above Fulham but qualify for the EL by finishing 5th, Fulham is in. If Spurs finish 6th and above Fulham in the fair play table, Spurs get the spot.
Fulham's 5 YCs yesterday don't help at all. I'll be rooting for Spurs to win next week home vs. B'ham and for Fulham to behave themselves against Arsenal.

Wait, why is West Ham relegated? Do remaining schedules somehow confirm their position there?
Okay, never mind. They only have 33 points (you've given them 40 in the table above).
My mistake, I didn't correct it from copy/pasting the relevant table. Thanks for the heads up.
Cannot wait for KC to open their new stadium and play some home matches, they've made this first-year fan lose a bit of interest right off the bat.
It's a bummer that the construction timeline has delayed the opening of their season (at least that's why I assume they haven't played at home yet.) Looking at it, they've had a rough opening opponents, too. LA and NY are two of the three best teams in the league. They had the misfortune of facing the Revs after they got Feilhaber (and some other help, IIRC.) Then this week it's the Sounders, who were a playoff team last year, and after that in league play it's the Rapids, who won MLS Cup last year and are extremely difficult to beat at home.
In MLS 2010, the home team averaged 1.69 points per match and the away team averaged 1.07 PPM. Hopefully they at least start grinding out some draws, but 4 points in 7 away matches isn't far off from a league average of 7-8 points over 7 away matches. With the expanded playoffs this year, they are far from out of it.
Their whole schedule looks like a typo, with 10 straight away games to start the season and 10 straight home games in the middle.
They are also still alive in Open Cup play, with a home game coming up against the Revs on May 25th (at Blue Valley DAC, whatever that is.)
Blue Valley DAC is a high-school field (granted it looks like a pretty nice one).
The schedule has been rough, and it has only served to magnify the missed opportunities (giving up two goals in injury time in Vancouver to end up in a draw, etc.) But, I'm not giving up just yet, just looking forward to some home games, hoping they can pick up enough points to stick around until then.
They can start picking up extra points sometime after Saturday. 🙂
We watched the Portland-Seattle game at Mom & Dad's over the weekend. Most of my extended family was there, none of whom are soccer people. They all commented on the great crowd and thought it looked like fun, even with the buckets of rain.
It was lots of fun, though it would have been more fun if the Sounders had held onto the win. 🙂 It was sunny all day until an hour before game time, so I was not prepared for the rain we got. I think they set a 24-hour record for rain in May, it was really unusual to see it rain that hard here. The ECS tifo was pretty great. Can't wait for the Vancouver game.
