Why is it easier to find a high quality video of a song from the 60's than the 80's?

it's also probably easier than trying to look up videos by "james" and finding videos by "james" 😉
I wasn't going to give you a softball.

Not much of quality was being made in the '80s...
You've Stop(ped) Making Sense, spooks.
ignoring the number 1 on this list, which came out in 1979, I see a lot of good stuff from the 1980s. (Or if you prefer Pitchfork's list).
and, while I am not a fan of the genre, Rap began as a commercial phenomenon in the 1980s (The Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" was recorded in 1979). That's pretty big.
Yeah, I'm ignoring the great stuff to take an easy (and lazy) swipe at pop music. Unfortunately for me, I was a kid at the time, and wasn't aware that there was music being made that I would actually like.
I will peruse those lists, by the way. To this day I tend to put '80s music at the bottom of my to-listen list.
Okay, I looked at the list. I own a lot of that. I should probably drop my fear of '80s music, which might be attributable to the fact that my childhood kinda sucked (not my family life, though. I want that to be clear).
I agree with BS. The 80's had a ton of great stuff. I would argue that popular music in the 80's was pretty lame but let that color your judgment.
When I was in my late teens/early twenties I was blown away by how many people I met, and thought were cool, loved the Smiths. While I don't hate them I just don't get the pedestal that so many people in their (now) mid-late thirties LOVE the Smiths.
I'm one of those guys. I was obsessive about all things Morrissey as a depressed high schooler.
