Just wanted everyone to know that after Monday morning I'll be around very seldom, if at all, for the next week or so. Our stuff gets loaded June 23 and unloaded in Gettysburg, SD, our new home, on June 25. If anyone wants to fill in on Minor Details for a week, feel free to do so.
godspeed, and safe travels, padre.
Dido. Best wishes on a smooth transition. Your new parishioners are lucky to have you.
Who ordered the 5AM tornado siren wake-up call?!
Mornin' Gents! Last night I got back from backpacking through the Black Hills with a couple of 16 year old boys. One would think that the highlight would be hauling a 55 pound backpack through 1800 feet of elevation on tree-strewn trails to the top of Harney Peak (elev 7250)during one 3-hour hike. That was great (really). No the highlight was getting out of a tent on Friday morning in Custer State Park and having a 4 ton Buffalo 15 feet away, staring right at you.
That would be...thrilling, to say the least.
This ever happen to you, Hitman???
I hope you brought a change of shorts!
When I was a kid, my family and I had a very similar experience at Custer. A few, 5 or 6, buffalo roamed through out campsite right before we went to bed. One brushed up against our tent, that was pretty awesome.
anyone know who operates the "WGOM" twitter account? is that you, boss? maybe it's time to get `er up and running again (it was one of the top google results for a "WGOM" search, but that could have been weighted).
Anyone here interested in going to Rock The Garden with me today? Mrs. Corn isn't feeling up to it (32 weeks pregnant + 7 hour concert(s) = Her: "Honey, which of the 4 acts do you really want to see?" Me: "Umm, all of them?"
Edit: if you just need a ticket, you don't actually have to go "with me"...
Got my first ever scalp sunburn yesterday. It looked like a hat wasn't needed, and it was hot enough I wanted the air circulation for extra cooling. Guess that was a mistake.
On the recently-discussed header topic: the avatar mosaic header is my absolute favorite. It's everything I like about this site, right at the top. And there seems to be a little room left for additions if any more folks become regulars.
Thank'ee. Yeah, I know there are some other at least semi-regulars who aren't there (Milt isn't up there, but he's still just using a generic wordpress avatar, so no rush on him I guess), but there's room for another row when I need to fix it, or at least one or two more columns.
Dang, gone one week and I get forgotten. Talk about a tough crowd!
sorry, you're just a semi-regular.
Oh, snap. I used all the recent posts, and I suppose you weren't in any.
I'll get a list of the missing together.
You have a list of registered users, spooky.
I know, but those thumbnails are tiny.
Mo chailín spent the morning at the Central Iowa Celtic Festival (Link to photo album) and then went and saw XMen. Both were a good time. I'll save my XMen comments for the next movie day so I actually have something to add.
Just two days to wait! I'm eager to hear, too, because I like the idea of an X-Men prequel, even if I generally despise summer blockbusters.
I have 2/5 of a nickel to throw in on that film, too.
I think I'm gonna make the Boy take me to that for Father's Day.
