I had the distinct pleasure of drinking beer with brianS, E-6, AMR, algonad, ben, sean, banjo, and freealonzo today. Is that everyone? I think so. Nice to see you guys.
Cheers!
Positively outstanding alternative to paying attention to that background noise ballgame. Thanks for putting it together.
The one time I was able to be part of a caucus, it was game three of the ALDS last year. The caucus really took the edge off the game. And the series. And the existence of the Yankees.
doc was in Minny? Whassup?
Running of the pigs in spamtown.
Nice turnout at the the WGOM Caucus this afternoon at the downtown Grumpy's. SBG, brianS, AMR, freealonzo, Banjo, Algonad, Ben, Sean and myself, all tipped a few, noshed a bit, and chatted about all the expected topics: baseball, beer, bands, BBQ, books, basketball and broads. Good times. (Especially nice to finally meet doc in person.)
Oh, and AMR read a sonnet that he had composed about his undying love for Chuck James that, frankly, left us all a little misty-eyed. :_(
That does explain why the basement was so empty during game time. Sounds like it was fun!
I have no idea who is this "Ben" you speak of.
Oh, and Can of Corn was there too.
wait, that was CoC?
I don't remember either. Must have left before I arrived.
Heh. That was me. I wasn't around for the convention a few summers back; a bit unfamiliar with the etiquette for face-to-face introductions - "Hi, my name is...uhm, well, Corn. No, Can of Corn" or "I'm the guy with the corncob (wait, that sounds weird). My avatar is the talking ear of corn...(sh*t, that's not any better)." SOOO, I just went with the standard "meeting strangers" handshake & smile. Everyone made me feel right at home.
Especially nice to finally meet doc in person.

Almost worked that bit on my last visit to the Bay area and was sorely disappointed it didn't work out. Meeting everyone was a blast.
Edit: Sorry to have missed you sean. Would have really liked to meet the current architect of this place.
I'm just the maintenance. Everyone else are the architects.
Touché.

To be fair, I cribbed a good share of that sonnet from Beyoncé.

I added some heartfelt to today's cup, but will post something here for completeness. Yes, the conversation was just like on the site, but without pictures or YouTube videos.
Corn, good luck with the bun in the oven and bar drilling. Banjo, you had better sin that cookoff. There is more than mere bragging rights at stake. You are carrying the wgom's honor. No pressure.
And somebody needs to get amr a backing band. When he sings chuck James's praises, be is Buble. Women swoon.
eye makeup remover?
Anti-tail growing spray?
Your tanooki suit?
Well, I guess you remembered your sunglasses.
Well done, everyone.
A reminder for those with access: MLB Network will be carrying the HoF induction ceremony beginning at 12:30 Central.
And on their website, if you don't have access.
Oh, I do have that! I'll see if anything cool happens before I leave for Grumpy's.
On the annoying front: the banners hanging in Cooperstown depict Bert in an Indians cap.
is he being inducted as an Indian, too? He played four and a half seasons there.
No, he's going in as a Twin.
Here's the link to Bert's speech.
