I had something ready to go about it being Friday the 13th of October. Then I remembered that it's Thursday. Never mind.

Then I remembered that it's Thursday.
People scoff at the "Is it Thursday?" update, but week after week it proves its worth.
By the way: Yes. It is.
Yesterday, my wife reminded me that it's our recycle day, so this morning I spent a bit of time arranging far too many bits of plastic in a few bags and precariously carried them out. When I got out there, no one else had any garbage or recycling out, so I assumed I had something wrong but left everything on the curb anyway.
I got to work this morning and checked it out online and sure enough, it is recycle day. So maybe, the entire world (or at least my block) needs a "It's Thursday" update.
did your trash company take Columbus Day as a holiday, and push pick up day back a day? ours does that with holidays sometimes
That's also possible, though the online calendar indicates today as garbage and recycle day. I suppose I'll find out today when I get home.
Yesterday was recycling/trash day in StP. I had to leave really early for a side job and asked my wife to make sure the receptacles were in the appropriate locations as I didn't have time to do it before I left. This is something she has to do about once every 5 months so obviously it didn't get done.
Fortunately, the trash collector was a nice guy & walked up the driveway to retrieve the garbage can rather than skipping us. Unfortunately, the recycling guy didn't do the same.
It's very surprising that either would do it. I've never had that happen, and I've had more than a few chances because I forget about weekly events easily, unless they involve Chelsea or my stupid Vikings.
so, maybe reading comic books IS bad for your development. This clown is gonna get himself or someone else killed.
There's just no fixing crazy.
When they confiscated his suit he said he had another, so they had to know he'd be right back out there. I hope this bad apple doesn't cause an outcry against vigilante justice in film, because it can be satisfying in an action movie, despite being a terrible idea in real life.
On Thursday morning, Fodor sat in the front row of the King County Jail courtroom, but when the hearing concluded he tore off his dress shirt to reveal his signature black and green superhero costume
I hope the courtroom had A/C. Dude must've been sweating. But moral sweat.
Is this some sort of stunt to make a indie movie? I mean, the guy has a posse and a videographer with him when he goes out vigilating.
In the initial video I saw, it was revealed that a documentarian was following him around, making a movie.
Runner daughter has been fretting finding an internship the past few months, including checking out the international programs/internships that Mizzou offers. One has stuck out as halfways promising and not as financially prohibitive: next summer in Ireland. Now, I wonder if I can find anyone that might have some advice to give regarding the Emerald Isle should that happen?
You want NBB's voice, trust me.
Recent boom (last 20 years) in Ireland has brought it out of the middle ages (and the maid's room) - but like the other PIIGS (Portugal/Ireland/Italy/Greece/Spain), a lot of concern on sovereign debt. Heard an article that Ireland spent over their heads because the money was cheap and easy to get.
I felt safe everywhere I travelled (mostly in the North). People were friendly and accommodating, especially in the pubs.
There's an earnest (almost nationalistic) effort to make things Irish again - teaching it in the schools, adding to street signs, etc.
Huge public support for the GAA - Gaelic Athletic Association - Gaelic football, hurling, rugby - lots of local/regional/national events.
Got called 'love' a lot - never called 'guvner' (was careful not to call anyone paddy or boyo).
Can't give you much advice on the academic front - we did go to Trinity College in Dublin and the place was fantastic - great history/traditions, pedigreed alumnae.
Rugby is most assuredly not under the purview of the GAA. In fact, in the early days of the GAA merely attending a rugby or soccer game ("foreign games" or "garrison games") could get you expelled from GAA membership.
My mistake [Redacted] π
I did get to go watch an inter-city match in Milford. While the men played Gaelic football, the kids played soccer in the adjacent field (and as it was cold outside, the moms were all in their cars). The alternate dribbling or solo'ing off the foot was quite different.
No worries. It's just so rarely I'm actually expert on things around here, I gotta take those chances when they come. Hopefully I didn't come off too priggish
Recommend the tour of Old Bushmills in No. Ireland.
I'm not really a fan or whiskey (Irish or no), but was an interesting tour.
Irish whiskey is made from 3 ingredients - can you guess?
The main difference from Scotch is that Irish whiskey is distilled 3 times (vs. 2 times for Scotch), and Scotch is exposed to smoke, whereas Irish whiskey is not.
They've been making it the same way for 400 years.
Seconded. Bushmills is a much better tour than Jameson because they still make the whiskey at Bushmills, whereas Jameson isn't distilled in Dublin anymore and what's there is the Old Distillery that's been converted to a tourist attraction.
bushmills? that's protestant whiskey...
Yeah, this.
On the Jameson tour ... We passed at the 17+ euro entrance fee. boo on jameson.
heh heh...alcohol and sports are SOOOO important to her.
I was thinking of you...
heh heh...alcohol is SOOOO important to me.

This could only lead to trouble.
Pssst: Don't be surprised if Jack Morris leaves the Minnesota Twins' broadcast booth to become a pitching coach in the organization's lower minor leagues for next season.
Morris, the Twins' 1991 World Series hero, spent last week at their Instructional League in Fort Myers, Fla., to see whether he enjoyed getting back on the field. Jim Shellenback, who had been the Twins' pitching coach at rookie league Elizabethton since 1994, recently retired.
Anyone unfamiliar with the term "Pitcher Abuse Points" should take this opportunity to learn it.
Only BlackJack could make BlackJack's exit from the booth a bad thing.
_elmOn with another playoff home run for the Tiggers!
Oops...post up now, in case anyone here still cares about baseball.
Visa problems at check-in. Trying again tomorrow.
That's no good. Here's to hoping the red tape can't stop you tomorrow.
You didn't try to use that Leo Nunez passport again, did you, Magoo?
Visa issues - vass? Didn't think they cared on our end...
Me either, but they couldn't print my boarding pass if my return flight was farther out than my tourist visa, which it was since I was under the impression I could extend my visa once I'm there.
How about if your passport expires before your return flight. That happened to my brother & sister, and they were ALREADY in Ireland at the time. Oops!
Yeah, that has been such a problem that you can't enter the emerald isle (or most EU countries) if your passport expires within six months of entering the country.
aw crap. i just came back from flying into o'hare.

Columbus Day is not a holiday π
Canadian Thanksgiving then.
Pogo was da bomb.
"We have met the enemy, and he is us."
I'm just chilling in Chi-Town for about another hour before I make my way to O'Hare.
Godspeed, expatriate!
Now here's something: Frances Bean Cobain conceived in Minneapolis!
Superhero back on patrol in Seattle.
