Rangers at Cardinals
Colby Lewis vs. Jaime Garcia
I think this matchup favors Garcia - if they're not careful, the media-favored Rangers could be in big trouble here.

AJ with a mic??
This might be the longest national anthem yet.
Colby Lewis has the kind of stuff to be able to dominate. Also, I would think the Rangers would typically feast on lefties.
EAR is running errands. Toddler AJR is in bed. HPR and CER are watching Disney's Peter Pan, and don't have to go to bed for another hour. I've cracked open a can of SurlyFest, I've turned off the sound on Fox and I'm playing Merle Haggard. Should be a good 40 mins or so...
EAR watched most of the game with me last night and actually took an interest. She said she could because there were what? 5 game left? That way I wouldn't get any ideas. She's equally opposed to Feldman's and Motte's beards, which she calls "Squirrels". I think she feels she has to be loud about that stuff because she knows that without her to say no, there so go I.
As chilly as it is here tonight, she'd probably want to have a "squirrel" as well.
This might be my first listening to Merle*, but I probably should go get those three other double-album reissues sitting in the used bin at the Fetus. He's not Cash, but he's not bad. He's got little of the treacly sentiment that turned me off of C&W music in my formative years.
*"Thank God for the Meat Puppets!" - Lucas Long
I'm telling you, listening to music while watching sports is the way to go. I hardly ever listen to the broadcast, whether it's DicknBert or some national crew. Hockey, Football, Soccer, Baseball, doesn't matter the sport.
there really should be a "sounds of the game" SAP channel.
Merle is underrated, imo. I have yet to purchase his newest, but it's getting good press.
I'm just tasting his late 60's stuff.
Cool thing I learned from the liner notes: Merle was an inmate in the audience of Johnny Cash's first concert at San Quentin in 1959 (not the album concert from 1969).
You've inspired me to watch with PJ Harvey's Let England Shake over the broadcast. George Jones Gospel Greats (if I stay up that long) on deck. Radio Boca Tempernillo in the glass.
It seems I'll miss the middle innings, at least, for Skim's parent-teacher conferences. On the upside, she got near-perfect grades, so I don't expect them to take very long.
I always knew Skim would dominate.
At one of my parent teacher conferences my father went to, I was given straight As. So the teacher spent the conference discussing my inability to use scissors. My father, in his wonderful way, told her he didn't think that was a big idea.
I still can't use a scissors for what it's worth.
It's good to be home. In a show of solidarity, I'm going to Occupy My Couch until the game is over.
I'm guessing you're going to occupy a way higher percentage of the chair than is fair
Yes, about 99% of it.
LNP! Getting a hit so the leadoff hitter and not the pitcher can lead off the 6th!

Punto is basically the MVP of this series so far.
basically.
Hey, nice to be watchin' baseball with you guys.
I'm enjoying the Series.
While I have no rooting interest, last night was a good baseball game. Tonight's shaping up as another.
Pitching and defense. Gawd, how I miss you.
and meanwhile Mrs. Runner bitches about nothing happening. it's a lost cause
Not everyone appreciates, or recognizes, the game within the game.
Advertising?
I like that this game is moving along quickly. Maybe I can get to bed at a reasonable hour!
Nothing better than a quickly played baseball game.
Where are the AL East teams? I thought this was the World Series!
No sh!t.
The winner gets the Yankees, I think.
On pay-per-view.
Straight to video.
I can't believe how amazing Punto is.
MVP!
(Does Lego make an End of the World kit?)
There's the Punto base-running we've all come to love.
"Punto running out of the baseline."
LOLZ
The bullpen revolving doors are spinning. Now we'll see the time-of-game climb
BOOOOOOOOOO

I had to explain to EAR, who is a big fan of Ms. Griffin.
Dang, Albert. Missed it by that much.
I wanted to see it go out.
McCarver tries to explain things to me, and all I hear is "blah blah blah blah"
Meanwhile, Buck sounds like he's narrating a documentary.

for special needs children.
the SAP feed may be a better option
Holy nuts. Tense game, eh?
That was about as close of a stolen base call as I've ever seen.
Sometimes, umps amaze me. I swore he was out until I saw the replay.
Oh, that steal was probably not the best call Wash has made. Not as bad as doing crack, but not that much better.
Joo gotta prollem wif crack, carne?
No, no problem, bro.
Turned out to be the game winning decision, though. So, there's that.
Not bunting was the key to the inning.
Oh snap, it's getting really tense now.
Error on Pujols? Go back to sleep, Tim.
That would be the dumbest error in this history of a dumb stat.
Give him the tapioca.
He is still talking about it.
Despite this, I would be in support of swapping the official scorer with Tim McCarver, if that's what he wants to do.
Yes, but Pujols had a very unimpressive last few innings. First, he half-assed his way and didn't even make it to first base by the time his 390 foot flyball was caught and then he botched the cut-off. And yes, he royally botched the cut-off. We didn't have the sound on, but my grandfather and I were both all over how badly he screwed it up (he didn't move to get into position until it was too late). I don't watch many Cards games, but Pujols always seems to dog just as many plays as Manny B. Manny did yet he never seems to get called out on it.
Rhodes? I guess both managers are on drugs.
and what happened with the walk to load the bases?
Oy, the black ops Taco Bell commercials are way lame. The beard should have known better.
crackredemption thy name is sac fly.The tempo has ground to a halt.
It was nice while it lasted.
I hope this blows up now. Too many pitching changes.
still a 3:05 game.
got back just in time.
Not quite the home run I was hoping for, but it is the lead.
Punto still in this game? Cards are going to need a walkoff.
You mean the walkoff squeeze with Punto just barely beating out the throw by sliding head first into first base?
No wait, Punto can't bunt.
Here you go.
Oh, snap.
I really like how Punto's inept bunting came into play right after I said that.
I'd like to see this series go to 7 games just to hear Deford bitch. Actually, I'm beginning to dislike Tejas fans more than Bosox fans. They are the worst kind of fair weather (at least in my neck of the woods).
And they're Texans.
this. plus one millionty
I remember that kind of bunting.
I now predict a foul-bunt strikeout.
close enough.
Most classic Punto bunt ever.
Check out that bunt by Punto!
Awww, memories.
What!? Punto can't get down the bunt??
One classic Punto bunt deserves another.
There goes Punto's MVP candidacy.
I spooky'd that K.
I spooky'd those bunts!
Amazing!
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fola80rQop4
Those Punto "bunts" really woke the nation up.
That was a good game!
Night, everyone!
I finally had something to say. Plus, EAR fell asleep.
Bah. This whole thing is a cash grab.
Nah. That's the NBA lockout...

Still one of my greatest contributions to society from my time as a blogger (which means I definitely have the right to embed the image even if it's being hosted by another friend of ours):
Classic!
NooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My recording of the game got LaRussa'd!!! I added an extra half-hour to the record time, and still it ran out after the top of the 9th (got to see the Rangers score their two runs and Beltre Uno to finish the inning).
