I'm a sucker for women who can make soprano sound like a lullaby rather a loon choking on a whistle. In deciding between featuring Alison Krauss or Regina Spektor, I picked the one I'd most like to...have chop off my hair. So here you go. While I do like some of her music where she prominently features her use of the glottal stop (especially On the Radio), I prefer something more basic and sweet.
I saw Regina Spektor at Lollapalooza way back when. It didn't do much for me, but I think that's to do with the venue. I'm sure in a smaller, more intimate venue she would have blown me away, but at a large outdoor festival it just didn't work.
that sounds about right...I watched several videos and one was from Lollapalooza and I didn't care for it.
I saw her at The Mist (that name only seems somewhat correct to me right now, so if that's wrong, someone say so) before it went under. It's a crummy venue, and that hurt. Her show is meant to be quiet and intimate, but there were no doors between the stage and the concession area, just a big open space, and she got drowned out a lot.
The Myth perhaps?
Bingo. Thanks.
