i recognize that the butthole surfers have a wide and distinguished catalog (though i must admit to being largely unfamiliar with it). technically though, they are a one hit wonder.

i will also admit to this track being semi-omnipresent during the summer of `96, and that summer being awesome.
I remember similar awesomeness in the summer of 1988 due in part to Hairway to Steven.
One of my favorite album names, along with Mars Needs Guitars that comes to mind
I just noticed the last few songs are ones I actually recognize.
I count Ministry's "Jesus Built My Hotrod" as a Butthole Surfers hit, but then I'm a big hall kindof guy.
You mean Ministry's cover of "Some Dispute Over T-Shirt Sales"?
Don't know that story... Wikipedia.
Ok, it was a B-Surfers live-set song before it became the "Hotrod" collab, was then recorded for Independent Worm Saloon under the title you list. Just listened. I prefer the "Hotrod" version, but then I've got 20 years of nostalgia as bias.
Anyways, you bring a song you haven't yet released to a collaboration, and that collab becomes a hit, well then that collab is gonna be the definitive version. Massive Attack's "Karmacoma" is not a cover of Tricky's "Overcome". (And unfortunately, Tricky is the only artist I can think of right now who's re-used lyrics so frequently.) Point being, "Hotrod" is not a cover.
I thought what you were going to be that Gibby felt like he deserved a cut of any "Hotrod" tees.
Oh what a good song.
I've said this before, but I used to sing the song when I'd dry my eldest daughter's hair after baths.
