    1. Im flipping around channels this morning and FOX is showing Premiere League...what a weird collection of folk they have for the pregame (prematch?): Eric Wynalda and Peirs Morgan. Im surprised FOX would let anyone that works at CNN appear on their channel.

*oops, this nested in the wrong spot. Anyway, BBC America showed rugby yesterday, but dont have it today. boo

      1. The big games today are day four of the Caribbean Series and the end of the semi-finals of the Australian League playoffs.

    2. I thought the big game was Chelsea-ManU.

It was a very exciting, tense game with Chelsea up 3-0 after 50 minutes and ManU ultimately gaining the draw 3-3. If anyone thinks soccer is boring I suggest watching the two Chelsea-ManU games from this year, both of which were a lot of fun even though my club only gained 1 out of a possible 6 points. Oh to see Chelsea's second goal, 25 seconds into the 2nd half, go to the 58 second mark of the top video:

      1. yeah, that Chelsea goal was absolutely brilliant. Perfect lob pass over the defense and a whale of a strike for the goal.

  1. Went to the Craig Finn show at the Triple Rock last night. A much more mellow set than a Hold Steady show, but he's still a great frontman and a couple of the newer songs sounded much, much better live than on the album. My favorite line of the night:

"People have been listening to the new album and saying, 'Wow, that's a lot of Jesus.' They're right, but in 'No Future' I reference the Riverside Perkins. Anybody who's been there knows that is a completely godless place."

    1. I am really enjoying the album. I look forward to seeing more live clips making their way to the Internet.

  2. I was set to take my wife out for the full day for her BD. 'Twas going to take her out for crepes for lunch, do some baby shopping (which we haven't done together at all this time), and dinner wherever her cravings took us.

But my sister-in-law, who was to be our sitter, hurt her neck badly doing the Kitty Dance. I'm really frustrated b/c I wanted some time alone with my wife before the baby comes (which completely removes any alone time for 6 or more months). My wife's taking it much better than I am.

  3. I got called into work last night (apparently, seven closing shifts in a row weren't enough) so I missed the K-Lub Stomp. I sure hope the show's happening by the time the Twins start, because missing them for a job I don't like is entirely too much. In the meantime, I think I've managed to see one of the last six Wolves games or something. Argh.

  4. David Thorpe lists the top twenty 2nd year players in the NBA. Number 9: Nikola Pekovic.

That tells you two things. One, people are noticing our cuddly little monster and two, that was one weak draft class last year. No knock on Pek, but he and #1 Griffin weren't in the draft class. Plus, Pek is just starting to get meaningful playing time.

Not in the top twenty: Wes Johnson.
