DG and his wife had their firstborn yesterday - a giant named Gideon. How many kidless dudes do we have left? It can't be many.

I tried so hard to talk Mrs. Buffalo into Gideon. Love the name, Mak.
Congrats, Mak.
I don't have any kids yet, but I'm definitely in the minority anymore.
Congrats DG! I'm with Magoo in the minority.
Good work, Ghost! Also vicariously experiencing dad-ness thru you pallys.
Sound the trumpets!
Congrats, Mak! We're on a kid embargo until we find more appropriate digs.
So, who holds the record for the most kids here? Am I in the lead with 4?
Got me beat- I've only got three with no plans for more.
I've got you tied, punman.
CER, F 8.7
HPR, M 6.3
AJR, F 1.995
LBR, F 0.1
My wife and I have long said "no fewer than 4."
and no greater than 12?
We haven't put an upward bound on it, though I'm pretty sure natural processes will limit us before that.
Also, the number ended up being 13.
Also, punman, with your fourth, (btw, UncleWalt has the same number), was that when people started treating you like you're a quiverfull type? I've noticed a certain amount of that, though it's just subtle condescension, which never happened when there was only three.
Heh. I've noticed that too. I want to dress all of them in T-shirts with religious slogans whenever we go out to eat. Unfortunately, AuntieWalt doesn't think I'm that funny.
Your vehicle gives you away. 😉
Perfect.
That's it! Though we splurged on the third row.
Congrats, Mak. The good Dr. and I are not the breeding type, so y'all will have to create our replacements.
Congratulations and best wishes to all of you!
And he's already got a better werewolf record than me. Congrats! Great name.
sweet. we've almost got this WGOM little league team filled out. congrats, maks!
Thanks everyone. 9 pounds, 10 ounces and the nurses weighed him 3 times because they thought that seemed low. He really is big. Spooky can attest that I'm still a little bit in the dumbfounded wonderment stage. But we all made it through one night and managed to get a little sleep.
Very big CONGRATS to you!
The dumbfounded wonderment stage lasts for days. It did for me, anyway.
Lack of sleep kind accentuates that feeling. Congrats, DG!
Congrats, DG and Mrs. Ghost! My firstborn was 9 pounds, 2 ounces and she was huge- I can't hardly imagine another half-pound on that!
Congrats, DG! That is a big baby, dang.
Rhubarb daughter was also 9lb-10oz (after doing her business, too) -- there is certainly something to be said for having some heft and not feeling (as) fragile when you hold them.
No kidding. The Boy was only 5 and 12 (a month early). I was nervous as heck holding him the first few weeks.
Sour Cream was 5 and 2. She was born very early. I've probably relayed the story of her traumatic birth around here, but if I haven't, maybe I'll tell it during Father Knows Best.
We've had a nice cluster of birthweights:
7'11
8'11 (the boy)
7'5
7'9
HPR's C-Section was scheduled closer to his due date than any of the others because they were most willing to let him come vaginally. I'm sure that extra week explains the extra pound.
Congrats, DG!
Enjoy every moment, seriously. The Kernel will be 7 months in about a week...I honestly cannot believe she's already this old and I'm already nostalgic for when I could hold her head in my hand and her feet just touched my bicep. Now she's a 20# babbling bundle of energy and smiles - I can barely hold her with both arms.
Reminder, I can't record a pod tonight. Rugby got in the way. We'll set up something for next weekend.
Hey AMR did you see that Lydia Loveless is blowing people away at SxSW? I have a feeling next time we see her it won't be with 50 people at Lee's.
I see through the BoF that Spamtown's Own Martin Zellar performed, with his son subbing in on gee-tar. Anybody catch it, by chance?
I did not see that. Where are you reading this? Bloodshot and LL's facebook accounts haven't mentioned any super press.
Lydia actually had a show opening for some jam band a few weeks ago at the Cabooze. I looked at my wife a few nights before the show, saw how tired she was from being with four kids all day, and realized that just asking the question would be the majority of the offense. Good: no offense from asking the question. Bad: she doesn't even know I made a sacrifice.
I hope I can get a few shows of her playing 7th St. or Triple Rock (or even Varsity) before First Ave Mainroom calls. Or, should she crossover to real country, the Myth, or opening up for a platinum-selling artist at the Xcel or Target Centers.

Thanks.
Eric Danton and Kevin Joy may be the same person. I'm not sure if the "conversation" "between" "them" is just a ruse.
also, I watched the UK/Ia St game last night. Royce White was the best player on the floor. He's got more than a little LeBron in his game, although he lacks bron-bron's quickness and speed. Too bad that he couldn't have grown up before fall 2009.
I agree. I don't see any way he goes back to Iowa State next year. He's the complete package. He reminded me of Scottie Pippen.
a much, much beefier Pippen, which is why I want with bron-bron. He has a good handle, shooting range, post presence, and court awareness. Needs to learn how to make FTs, and I suspect he won't look very quick against NBA competition.
My alma mater is representing in basketball. The Osseo girls had to settle for second in the state tournament and the boys just won their section title. Go Orioles!!
I just applied for a historian job with the Marine Corp at Quantico. Probably a long shot, but it is worth a shot.
You should apply for the historian job with FNMA. I've heard it pays really well.
(Ed) Hi-yo!! (Doc) - Rim-shot!
Oh yeah? Museum of the Marine Corps?
The job listing says "History Division, Marine Corps University".
No-hitter alert. Pirates don't have any hits through seven innings against the Twins. Liriano 5 IP, 1 BB, 6 Ks. His spring is getting me excited. Twins leading 8-0. Dozier with a HR and is now hitting .316.
That means he's at 18 K to 2 BB over 13 IP. Hopefully that translates to the regular season.
Liriano's stats this spring so far: 13 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 18 K. That K/BB rate is insane. He has a 0.62 WHIP and a 2.77 ERA.
He'll never be successful if he doesn't pitch to contact!
Brandon Boggs breaks up the no-no but gets thrown out trying to stretch it to a double.
A big thanks to the dread pirate bill young for the green beer, a wicked sunburn and the cabbage assist. I'm going to love living in New Orleans. Pork post to follow.
Glad you had a good time. You're not the only person who ended with a nasty sunburn.
I had an epic time. I stumbled home, passed out for a couple hours and then went back to the conference hotel. I'm going to need some time to recover from my new city.
I also passed out for about 90 minutes before spending the night in the quarter. I think I consumed more alcohol yesterday than the first 2 months and 16 days of the year combined.
A great write up on Terry Ryan from CBS sports.
Spamtown alley-oop winner goes Deadspin. The footage is from my old high school pal and father of current Packer star Joe, Lee Aase.
watching the Purdue/Kansas game, KU coach Bill Self is wearing a gigantic wristwatch. Its Flava Flav sized!
