Papa Pavano is here to bring his expos experience to the table. . The Twins going for the first win of the season; get it. Everyone rejoices.
##LETS GO TWINS!
One for me, one for our fallen homie. Get well soon, light rail.
mlb.tv free game of the night. So we got that going for us.
Just one more year and then you'll be happy
But you're cryin'
You're cryin' now
Win one for the Baker!
There's a lot of new mugshots on the Gameday pregame lineup from last season- I hope they all find their bats soon.
I predict... the Twins lose 8-1! The one run will be scored in the 9th inning on a passed ball!
Uh, oh. If the Twins have lost New Guy, they're really in trouble.
I predict... the Twins lose 8-1! The one run will be scored in the 9th inning on a passed ball!
I see what you did, there.
I'm drinking Dortmunder Gold tonight because I'm not going to wait for the Twins to win anymore. Served in the mystery glass-a Foster's pint glass- that is of obscure and unknown origins.
I'm quaffing a homebrew. English ordinary bitter + some extra hops to make it bitter = excellent session brew.
when I get home, I will have to decide between canned Guinness and a Torpedo. Can't go until somebody gets a hit in this game, however.
If the Twins are losing, hit the Torpedo.
X 3
I hit it. So I think I will take some credit for the win.
Of course, our go-to site for helping me watch this game in class has all the MLB games tonight... except this game. Someday I'll see a pitch thrown live this season!
Its free today on mlb.tv.
Blacked out in MN. Not to worry, my professor let us out almost two hours early!
Valencia kind of took his time there.
Perfect game going on.
1-2-3. New Guy was using reverse-psychology.
Walking is a skill.
foul?
foul. sorta.
er. doh.
yup, foul.
and foul. Damn.
Roy rockin' the purple sweater vest.
The second I heard the Twins had called a press conference I knew Baker was going under the knife for that tendon. Spooky.
pussy.
He can't even strikeout when he should.
Span shouldn't have bothered with his quality PA.
Now that's more like it. I was afraid Morneau might have to bat.
Mmm. Giant baked tater. Where's J
Jim?
We want a striike out!
The Perfect Game continues...
Good thing we're not talking about The Perfect Game, then.
those faux Mexican kids sure were cute.
That would have clipped Willingham's knees.
Nice strikeout call on that ball, blue.
Strike three was juuuuuuuust a bit outside.
Is it just me, or has Morneau lost weight? He looks skinny.
The Repository says it is not just you.
Scrapple.
Good pic on this story.
We didn't copyright the BKA label???
They haven't gotten to Hunter Wendelstadt yet.
evening folks!
I'm hoping Willingham goes deep again -- I've got new graphics to break in
you called it.
And the Perfect Game rumbles along...
That was a worse swing than Cuddyer.
Greatest. Twin. Evah.
in this lineup so far, at least
Sweet Parmelee.
Palpable.
3 innings in 40 minutes. And it's not even a getaway day game.
a perfect game will speed things along.
The Twins have now hit into double plays in 25 percent of their opportunities. That is insane. They did just 10 percent last year.
so, there's major improvement!
Boo. I think that's my cue to go home.
And The Perfect Game sputters to a stop.
oh, my. That was a gift from Blue.
ok, maybe not. Looked close on that third view.
GOSO.
Dammit, I was going to say that. Stupid insurmountable leads.
Game over.
Weak throw, Porkie.
Revere coulda thrown out Kendrick there.
Something about the way he fielded it looked odd, almost like he assumed Kendrick would stay at third.
Yeah, it looked like he was just going to toss it in and threw it in at the last second. Kendrick should've been dead meat.
looked to me like he dawdled throwing it in because he didn't expect the runner to go. even Delmon would have made that throw, if he could have come up with it somehow
Pyrrhic Poohols.
1 run allowed...shoot we lost this one.
Ok, I'm out. This should guarantee a cavalcade of runs this half inning.
Why, have the Angels figured out a way to score even when they are in the field?
New ways for the Twins to lose: defensive runs.
Rally scoring, like in volleyball.
Twins hired a vet like Carroll to put a stop to tomfoolery like this.
And how often do you see it that a guy puts an end to tomfoolery then leads off with his first hit with his new team?
and for XBHs
Ok, I lied. I'm still here. Way to go, Jamey.
AND he chokes up on the bat. Scrappy!!!!!
They made it to second base!
Oy, game over man, game over.
Bunt, Mauer, Bunt!
"Big at bat here for Mauer, trying to get Carroll at least to third base."
Le sigh.
Su-weeeet!
I do not believe what I just saw!
Oh my god a run!
Oh sure, don't bunt.
Are ties allowed?
4th inning runs????
that was some nice hitting by Mauer. He went down and got it.
Gawd. Morneau looks like a left-handed Marty Cordova up there. He's teeny!
Ugh.
Yeeah, that was some ugly at batting.
PORK!!!
Now that, though...!!!
CONSUELA!!!!!!
Porked!
Jesus Willingham.
HOLY WILLINGHAM THAT WAS LONG!
WOW
By Josh, that was nice to see.
Mmm, spiral mashed ham!
I was just about to ask if we had a pic for this guy. Awesome.
Ha, he knew you had them ready.
That. Was. Jacked.
Jeebus, that was a Jim Hoey-esque fastball from Weaver.
Who needs Cuddiier?
NOW I can go home. You'll thank me for sticking around, right?
Thanks for sticking around, but you left and Bourgeois hit an inside the park round-tripper...next time, stay longer.
Sorry. It IS nice to be needed, however.
So I think we're pretty well all in agreement that the Willingham signing was well done, yes?
Can he pitch?
The way this season has started, I am confident we will find out.
Yes, both thumbs up.
Really? Does everyone need a mascot race?
Ick, dare I ask what they were?
Target dog, a loon that looked like a mosquito, Babe, and some green fish.
I am blaming what just happened on that.
Not much brings a bigger smile to my face than watching Torii flail at a slider out of the zone.
Ahh, nostalgia.
That wasn't even a slider which makes it all the stranger. It was a fastball that started out way down and away and stayed even further away.
Can we keep Josh Willingham?
Hey dudes, what's going on other than it appears the scoreboard is malfunctioning?
Oops. I was just leaving.
that ball from Callaspo looked like a double off the bat.
There we go. The scoreboard looks all right again.
I really, really fucking hate Peter Bourjous. Sorry for the swear.
Really? This season is just the worst.
Peter Bourjos owns the Twins. Just absolutely owns them. Like Rivas to the Royals.
Rivas could still go 4-4 against them.
He turns into Babe Ruth against the Twins.
GROAN
Well fielding isn't really part of his game.
Giveth, then taketh away.
geez, _elmonesque in LF
Beat me to it, Quick Draw.
wow... I log in for the first time this season and that crap happens. Sorry guys!
We want zooomx v.1 back!
The original zooomx got lost somewhere in the interweb on the way over from the other website. Aaaaanddd, I frickin' hate Weaver.
No worries. It's actually kind of nice to have someone to blame.
Delmonesque.
I'm thinking Consuela the Agreeable Ham belongs in RF. Or DH
I think it is important to put players where they are comfortable and not where they would best help the team.
Well, at least the left fielder can hit now.
Peter Bourjos has hit 4 of his 19 career HR's against the Twins.
15% of his extra base hits in his career against the Twins in just 6% of his plate appearances. The only team he has more extra base hits against is the Rangers (one more) in twice as many plate appearances.
Before tonight's game he had a career .986 OPS against the Twins.
He was a 4.3 fWAR player last year. Somehow I completely missed that.
Above average in everything, but not great in anything (except perhaps fielding) makes it easy to miss that he's really good.
It's surprising because usually I'm all over guys like that.
amazing.
OK Dazz, we'll forget the wrong batter.
Kevin Love has a head injury. awesome. :/
I was thinking today that with Adrian Peterson, Rubio, Mbakwe, and now Baker injured, what next? Love?
Hope it was not a premonition.
Evening fellow sadomasochists!
Dazzle spent several minutes talking about Thielbar (and his offseason work as a landscaper) during the third inning.
Teh awesome. I would love it if this kid actually makes it up at some point.
masochists maybe
What? You no likey...er, nevermind.
Respect for the Canadian there - and a base hit.
I'd say Josh is seeing the ball well.
Sipping on Toad Hollow's Proprietary Red Wine aka Erik's the Red. Tasty. Perfected a new dessert last night. Sweet Potato Brownies with blueberries, double layered with Peanut Butter Mousse and finished with a Blueberry and Port Wine reduction. I call it the Devil's PB&J. Perhaps I will post the recipe in the near future. Munching on the left-overs tonight. 🙂
That play right there pretty much sums up the Twins season to this point.
Zoinks, Scoob.
How long until we hear people start blaming Pavano's "struggles" on him missing Butters?
Valencia better not hit into a double play
that works
Rally time.
Chrissy Chrissy Parm Parm!
chicken Parm !
Parmalee baby!
WTF happened to Torii? Looked like he rolled an ankle or something.
Nope, he just flat out took the wrong route and then faceplanted. Bizarre to see Hunter take the wrong angle and let a ball elude him.
I was disappointed that Ullger didn't send him. I would have loved to experienced an inside the park home run against ii...
Hunter face-planted the right-field wall/dirt.
I havent seen a face plant like that since my freshman year in college.
Hunter needed to Delmon too.
That was fun.
ii with the uh-oh
That was all kinds of awesome.
Ha!
F(aceplant)OTF
ugh. UNO
Holy crap this strike zone suddenly got 5 feet wide
The ump must think Mariano Rivera is pitching.
its been wide all game
Ah, umpires and their zany antics.
Sean, I see progress with my Android browser. refreshing the page takes me to my last comment, rather than to the top of the page every time.
I haven't touched the theme, but that's good news.
Maybe it was something in my phone set up, though I too changed nothing.
The parade of former Twins goes on!
Another nice strikeout on a ball.
what bullshit. All three called strikes were outside
LaTroy Hawkins' 18th year in the bigs. Huh.
And the memory of Hawkins blowing it comes streaming back.
But it's good this time.
Is he the last remaining teammate of Kirby Puckett active in MLB?
yes.
Eff Yeah
Hey, Carroll looks pretty good tonight, eh?
Su-weet.
Ugh. That strike to d-span was 6 inches outside the zone.
wow. I'm a bit behind.
And for once this year, the Twins aren't!
Hi-yo!
JC!
It feels so good to have a lead. And some offense.
Shoulda known Mauer would end it.
well, he is a puss.
The Twins have just doubled their run total for the season. They have two innings tonight in which they scored more runs than they scored in any of their first four games.
Its good to see that Perkins has mostly grown out that beard. Needs to work on the mustache part a bit, though.
Dr. Chop says Mauer looks thinner. She's concerned that his production will suffer now that his butt is smaller.
Capps alert.
Sour puss!
I'm feeling strangely happy that he won't be facing Pujols in the 9th.
nothing strange about that.
Capps not pitching to Pujols with the game on the line in all likelihood.
Perkins is filthy.
This umpire sucks. We better get to know him.
He does have my favorite called third strike. Still, nobody had a better called strike at all than Al Clark.
He's one of the hidden characters from Mortal Kombat, isn't he?
Toasty!
Perkins has wicked sliders.
Perkins just buzzsawed the gajillion dollar man.
Oy. Dick, Pooholes is also a dangerous hitter, and he's at the plate.
VERY nice!
wow, Isringhausen is still around
Oh good, I thought I was the only one thinking that. I also thought it must be some other Isringhausen.
Ryan Doumit's walk up music: 'Mother' by Danzig. I approve.
This!
I keep thinking Doumit is Kubel.
Same here.
Hope this isn't going to get too crapptastic.
Jason Isringhausen is so old, he was on the Mets with Bobby Bonilla. Bonilla's contract was so horrible, the Mets are still paying it off.
this does not bode well...
Here's ii eating some fence:
http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=20543943&c_id=min&partnerId=aw-6804856818293276586-1803
And it starts...
Don't you trust that which is proven?
Oh, bullshit.
Hunter takes out his hatred of the rightfield wall on a weakly hit double.
it probably would have been a single if Span charged at the ball
Honestly, if Capps blows this I may get evil on something.
something lives another day
Jesus. If the ump is giving you 6 inches off the plate and you still can't find the zone, you must be matt capps.
Capps' middle name is Dicus? How did I not know that before?
That is odd...you were here last year. I remember.
You remember last year? I'm sorry.
Heh.
Nice pitch, there.
Twins win!11!!
Not 0-162!
We're going for 158-4!
OMG! THEY DID IT!
Clearly it was the drinking of the Dortmunder Gold prior to the win that was needed all along.
Yeah I got some left so this should work fine.
Can I look yet? Is it over?
Well that was never in doubt.
Puppies Under Glass!
Where's those d*mn puppies?
Good guys win!
Jeff Gray just knows how to win.
Nathan blows the save for the Rangers against the Mariners. He's allowed three runs so far.
from mlb.com's wrap:
uh, no.
Twins win - Tigers, Indians and Royals all lose.
