The Twins have won two in Yankee Stadium with a chance for a third. I assume these are the end times.

i mentioned it last night, but doing so finally made me dig out the old show and edit it down to the one clip itself. anyway, here's my cats on AFV:

the might have punched up the audio a little, but that's pretty much the sound he made when he hit the deck. also, they cut a few more seconds of the the other one going, "uhh, dude, you alright?"
Twins score 6 or more runs 4-0, score less than 6 0-8. Therefore for continued success the Twins need to concentrate on scoring at least 6 runs every game. Right?
I'll second that strategy.
You could say the same thing about 4 runs or more. The Twins have a strange run distribution so far since they haven't scored 4 or 5 runs in a game. It has been either three runs or less (usually less) or 6 runs or more.
If they haven't scored 4 or 5 runs in a game, then whether they would win with 4-5 is unknown. Better score 6+ to be safe.
Especially with the Twins pitching.
Especially with the TwinsCapps pitching.

Well, six would not have been enough in at least one of their wins, so let's just go for 10 to be really sure.
as long as they don't get stuck on nine.
Josh Willingham has 16 hits so far this season. 8 of them have been for extra bases.
RE: Super Small Sample Size Theater
It's just 3 games, but I wonder how much the team turnover this year relates to the Twins not looking timid at Yankee Stadium? Also, notice the game Gardy injected himself into, and ejected himself from, was the game they lost.
Last night's lineup:
1. Denard Span, CF
2. Jamey Carroll, SS
3. Joe Mauer, C
4. Josh Willingham, LF
5. Justin Morneau, DH
6. Chris Parmelee, 1B
7. Sean Burroughs, 3B
8. Clete Thomas, RF
9. Alexi Casilla, 2B
That's four imports and a rookie. Burroughs' one hit scored a run while Thomas donned the golden sombrero. Willingham did well in the first victory, but was a non-factor in yesterday's win. The three highest WPA earners yesterday were Morneau, Parmelee, and Mauer with Carroll not far behind.
For the pitchers, Burton did well and Duensing was okay. Marquis and Capps "pitched to the score". So that's one import that did well, one Twin that did okay, an import that didn't do well, and whatever you consider Capps to be, he didn't do well either.
Addition by subtraction. Removing Cuddiier and Kubel freed up the M&M Boys to finally begin to play their potential against the Yankee punching bag. Bring 'em on!
Willingham willed Morneau to the higher plateau. Partial credit to Gardy for making Morneau get after it by moving him down in the order.
I feel like there's absolutely nothing to read into there. Morneau and Mauer have been the two big offensive weapons in this series, and our winning pitchers were Pavano and Marquis. Marquis is the new guy and he was not good.
Gardy didn't have much choice but to inject himself into that situation.
If you actually buy the intimidation theory (I don't), I think it is less intimidating to face Garcia and Kuroda than Mussina and Pettitte (or even A.J. Burnett).
SoCal - are there any plans that you know of for a WGOM West meetup in Anaheim the week after next when MN is in town? Should there be?
Not that I'm aware of. I'm not sure if I can go. I can't afford it, but a buddy of mine said he might score me a ticket.
I've never been, are thereno cheap tickets? I dressthe drivedown fromthe LAX area.
Android phone fail. I can't edit my jabbering above.
we all dressthe drivedown from LAX to Anaheim.
At least Rifding Hokme does.
Also, notice the game GardyGreg Gibson injected himself into ... was the game they lost.

CC to buffalo: You should find yourself a bottle of Old Tom Strong Ale while they're available in the states. I have a feeling this one is in your taste wheelhouse. PS, I won't recommend the chocolate version.
Until seeing the title of today's CoC, I had never made the lyrical connection between the Beatles and REM (I'm in love with her/It's the end of the world as we know it): And I Feel Fine. Which leads me to a bit of self promotion. I just started a blog in which I will be asking artists 7 questions about 1 song. Please check it out if you are so inclined. My first post is with the guys behind Bruce Springstone:
I try to make one Twins game every time they visit New York and tonight is the night but it will feel a little weird actually having a chance to win a series. GO TWINS !!!!
I'm hoping the team and fans are squirming after the two losses.
Bartolo Colon threw 38 straight strikes last night. 108 total, 82 strikes. I didnt know he was still kicking around, but I guess thats what happens to players in Oakland.
The Tigers didn't know they were adding some speed to their lineup:
it's almost hypnotic. it's like a lava lamp.
Keep watching the skis.
Between this and _elmon's outfield ballet, I am looking forward to an entire season of Tigers .gifs to watch over and over.
Sometimes when I want to vomit I think of the time he hit an inside-the-park home run at the Metrodome.
Would it make you feel better to know that he's actually hit two of them?
I was at the game where he hit one of them. Lew Ford lost it in the roof.
the only thing that would make that .gif better would be if the camera jiggled ever time his foot hit the ground. and fell off the tripod when he dove.
Was he safe? The throw beats him by 5 or six belly rolls, but I can't tell if the tag was applied in time.
probably should save this for tomorrow's music day, but Levon Helm from The Band passed away. 'The Weight' and 'Up On Cripple Creek' get decent radio play, and had dozens of other great songs, but I always loved 'The Shape I'm In'
httpv://youtu.be/knF5Nis1K3c
They are a no doubt top 10 most influential band for me. A loss for the music community, for sure. Levon was still touring until recently and put on a great show.
Bit of a slow news day here so I thought I'd check out some of the stuff over at Twins Daily and found this comment from Stohs about the Hughes move:
The fact that there has been no word on Bowden AND they found it necessary to DFA a useful player unnecessarily, might mean something. Might mean that the Twins needed to make room for Bowden on the 40 man roster, OR that they plan to add someone like Dozier to the 40 man roster (and call him up) shortly.
I'd like to think there's something to this...
Seth's definition of useful differs from mine.
It seems premature to add Dozier to the roster. Shortstop is not (thank goodness) a problem right now and Dozier has played a mere 45 games at second compared to 258 at shortstop.
Agreed - I was more interested in the Bowden reference as this wasn't gossip I'd heard before.
At this point I think the Bowden reference is really just Seth's wishful thinking.
Plus, it's not as though Carroll or Casilla have done anything to change anyone's opinion about them. The only way putting Dozier on the roster now would make sense is if you feel he's just done so much that he absolutely has to be on the big club and starting every day.
How long will they go with Plouffe as the backup for the middle infield? They will call up either Nishi or Dozier soon.
If they call up Dozier, I think they move Carroll to 2b and Casilla is the utility guy.
It just seems like bizarre personnel management unless you really think Dozier needs to be playing every day in the majors. Casilla has basically been doing what they asked of him, so it'd be an odd time to demote him. Sure, you could do it, but it seems a little aggressive this early in the season. If they liked Dozier that much they should have just started the season with him at short.
Now, if it's Nishi to come up as the utility guy instead of Hughes, that raises its own questions, but I'd almost understand that more.
Now I want all the Timberwolves to do that. To hell with the beards, mustaches are the way to go.
Freddy Mercury approves.
That's exactly what flashed through my mind when I went to Canis Hoopus and was unexpectedly greeted by that photo.
Damn, I think that means he's still suffering from concussion-like symptoms.
From Jim Mandelaro (Rochester blogger/beat writer):
I wonder where Hughes will play if he comes here. Maybe third base. Hard to break up the middle infield combo of Brian Dozier and Nishioka.
Seriously? You think it would be hard to replace Nishi?
By the way, I can't believe I didn't know this before, but our Nishi is not the first person named Tsuyoshi Nishioka to play in American professional baseball.
Good catch. Looks like that Nishi didn't exactly throw the living fire out of the ball.
just glancing at the Wolves box score (they won!) and it says Darko is out with a bad right hamstring. This has gotta be a joke.
I wonder if Beasley would come back if he was offered to be a 6th man/energy player. A second line built around Barea-Beasley-D.Williams could pack a punch

And pitching well in general:

Cliff Lee had a heckuva no decision last night as well:

10 innings, 102 pitches, 81 strikes.

Yes, he was safe.
In which Dwight Howard reportedly threatens to sit out the rest of the season and playoffs unless the coach is fired. And Skip Bayless is okay with that.
I will never be a Dwight Howard fan
