The Twins go for their first three-game sweep of the season today, right?
Ryan Dempster, who's on pace to have the best year of his career (though he only has one win...the poor guy's offense won't help him) faces Francisco Liriano, who is not, but has come back strong. Not that any of us ever know which version of him to expect.
Winners of 9 of their last 11, the Twins are now 24-34, which is bad, but certainly doesn't put them at some embarrassing outlier. I can live with that for now.
CC to spookymilk: The Twins are off on June 11th. Hope you don't mind me publishing this on the tenth instead.
I wasn't always horrible with dates. Really, I wasn't.
Name a time when you weren't!! In the past, preferably.
February 30, 2007, perhaps?
the Twins swept Oakland last week.
Dick n Bert talkin about Butera catching Liriano today. I say let Butera put on the tools of ignorance, its about 150 degrees outside today.
also Liriano's ERA with Mauer: 4.31 in 424 IP
Butera: 4.23 in 117 IP
SENT HIM
Willingham is the AL leader in the Hit By Pitch category
Gamed at is trying to tell me it's 57 degrees at The Bullseye right now. I do not believe their estimate.
Must have been stuck in Celsius mode.
Hey, it's getting closer. It just change to Pompeii during the eruption of Vesuvias.
It looks like good Liriano showed up today.
Now the assbats just need to go back into storage.
guys, this is a righty! where's all the LH batters raking today?
Getting eaten by the wide strikezone.
Dick admits to being a big fan of Strat-O-Matic.
That's cool, but I don't think that statement is a big boost to the game.
Liriano ERA down to 6.00! At this rate, it'll be negative by the end of August
You jinxed him!
blah blah blah 6.10 blah blah beginning of September
Twins baseball :/
Still a good start for Liriano. You can't win with 0 runs.
Um, I'm pretty sure Blyleven did a few times.
Hah! Point for Philo.
Plouffe rakin'.
Everybody must get
stonedbunt!ULLGER'D!!
Looked like that was all on Plouffe.
I'm blind. Dazzle said Liddle sent him
Maybe he did and the cameras didn't show it, but there was no arm waving when Liddle was on my screen.
Liddle gave an unenthusiastic wave.
I still blame Ploufffe.
Obviously he should have known it wasn't going to be close.
where is the 'slap forehead' photo. yeesh
I hate Plouffe. So much. And I say that after he does good things too. Hate.
To me, he is now "Ploufffe." Because if we can take away a "d" for defense and an "o" for offense, surely we can add an "f" for &%$@!
looks like Burton's ERA is going to balloon
there is about a .13 % chance a member of the Cubs bullpen enters this game.
Maybe if the Twins get a runner on third with no outs, the percentages will cancel each other out.
I probably should have looked at Dempster's pitch count before saying this
I'll give Dazzle that one -- Carroll going all out for a ball while down 6-0 is admirable.
Agreed.
Time for that eight-run inning!
Two out of three ain't bad, eh?
Don't be sad.
Baby, you can talk all night.
cant win them all
Well, this game sucked, but the Twins still won the series, Buxton is all but signed and Hendricks is likely to be called up. Plus, the White Sox and the Royals lost, so the Twins didn't lose ground to the team directly ahead of them and the team in first (plus, it is always good when the Sox lose), so not too bad a day overall. Plus, Liriano pitched pretty well. The Twins just need to get him some run support.
I just want to say that it's nice to have the old social back. Thank goodness the twins haven't lost 'em all.
It's a long season. This kind of game happens once in a while. It's no problem. We'll just have to settle for 127-35!
