Ruining things for the Yankees would be an agreeable way for this season to end.

I'm back in texas to give a lecture around an exhibition I have up. It's only been a couple of months since we lived here but it feels like years.
After bugging my wife for the past few years, she's finally taking me to her work's fancy-schmancy Champions Club seats today. End of the season, last place, blah blah blah: free food an booze.
I will be making a scene.
If Joe Mauer falls into the stands, do I get to keep him?
At least that means he'll probably be off the Twins' radar.
...mostly joking.
I just finished the first season of Luther on Netflix. Wow. Twists you don't see coming, tension that's not overkill, characters- even the supporting characters!-that have more than one dimension.
Speaking of spoilers-
Maybe it's because it's a miniseries and there's less pressure to have a running story line, but when your six-episode first season ends up with Luther's wife dead and Luther teamed up with his wife's lover and the sociopath he's been locking horns with the whole show to catch the killer who is Luther's cop-buddy- the scriptwriters painted themselves into a bit of a corner. I'm eager to see how they deal with it in the next season.
I really like the way the BBC does miniseries, what with this and Sherlock. Impressive.
We just finished the second series of Sherlock. I'll have to take a look at Luther now, too
Dido.jpg - though we still have the third episode of Sherlock Season 2 to watch this evening.
Wait, I thought this was a miniseries about the life of the man at the center of the Reformation.
Nah, he has a brand of Christianity named after him- he doesn't need a police/crime drama show, too.
I feel so dumb. I'm guessing the confusion arose because one or two of my friends who are Lutheran ministers posted of their enjoyment of the series on the MugBook.
Season two is a significant step down, but it's still very good for the most part.
The first season was classified as a miniseries, so it's possible that they planned "season one" as a self-contained narrative.
RIP, Andy Williams
Had to refresh my memory to tell the youngsters at work about the whole Claudine Longet (Williams' first wife)/Spider Sabich thing:
Williams met French-born Claudine Longet when he pulled over to aid her on a Las Vegas road. She was a dancer at the time at the Folies Bergère. They married on December 15, 1961. The union produced three children: Noelle, Christian, and Robert within the next eight years.[15]
After a lengthy separation, Williams and Longet divorced in 1975. In March 1976, however, when Longet was charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend, alpine ski racer Spider Sabich in Aspen, Williams played a public role in the subsequent events, escorting her to and from the courtroom, testifying to her character at the trial, and providing legal assistance. Longet claimed the shooting was accidental, and eventually received 30 days in jail, which was served at her convenience. Shortly thereafter, Longet vacationed in Mexico with her defense attorney Ron Austin, whom she married in June 1985. They continue to reside in the Aspen area.
I'd forgotten about that. Talk about a script.
He made the Mercer/Mancini song "Moon River" his theme song, the #1 song from my birth year. His Christmas CD is in heavy rotation at the Runner household during the holidays as well.
Ours, too. It really was the most wonderful time of the year.
Moon River.
Hey strat, that Lake Harriet picture you posted on the BoF is, like you mentioned, the greatest thing ever. Just amazing.
For real.
So I have to actually "friend" you in order to see it? Well...alright.
Yes, that works. I guess I was expecting an amazing picture of a sailboat at sunset or somesuch...I'll just comment more over there so as to keep us in this community's good graces.
it certainly sheds a lot of lite on the Forbidden topic π
Puns (bad or otherwise) notwithstanding, it is a thought thirst provoking graphic.
It's not so bad beng my friend.
Yes, who doesn't want to be with strat?
I don't think I am friends with Strat yet. I'll have to remedy that.
Lots of pictures of cute kids and/or beer await. Also, occaisonal considered, though snarky, political commentary. And resultant pointless conversations with family members.
You know... the usual.
4LTR continues their #NBArank.
10. Deron Williams -- Yep, I had him at 10.
9. Westbrook -- I had him at 6, but I understand that. He's extremely talented and all, but sometimes he forgets that he's second best on his own team.
8. Wade -- I had him at 4. He was hurt some last year and he took a back seat to LBJ, but he's better than some of the guys yet unnamed, I think.
I can't wait for the season to start.
I wish the 4ltr would remove the hash tag and just make it their "NBA Rank". I want to look at the list with the numbers, but I can because of the illiterate sounding tweets attached to each player.
7. Kevin Love
47. Ricky Rubio
79. Andrei Kirilenko
105. Nikola Pekovic
133. Chase Budinger
133. J.J. Barea
139. Derrick Williams
145. Brandon Roy
Eight players that are starter level quality plus Shved, who also might be. I like this team a lot. They won't win a title, but they will be competitive.
Obviously they're going to struggle with the SuperFriends teams, but am I crazy thinking they could make some hay in the playoffs?
With Rubio lobbing all the balls, and Kirilenko getting back on D when lobbing all the balls doesn't work, yeah, I don't think you're crazy at all.
Don't forget that Pek-Smash is wildly underrated at 105.
Love called himself in "good shape" and says he'll use training camp to get in better shape. He still, however, apparently wasn't in good enough shape to keep up with Nikola Pekovic during pickup games Monday. Pekovic dropped at least eight pounds and has reduced his body fat from 12 to 8 percent.
"I had to guard him for five games yesterday and in the second game I was already tired," Love said. "He's really in shape. Having to guard him down there is tough. I think he's going to have a really great year."
Dare I say it? He's in the best shape of his life!
Ricky at 47? Should have been AK.
I saw him at the park today. He looks skinny and shorter than I would have expected. And intense.
You're making great use of italics today.
I know!
6. Kobe Bean -- I had him at 8 and I think that's where he should be.
This seems a bit high for Old Man Kobe.
sean, not sure why but today's fitness post is showing up in the right-hand column...

If Joe Mauer falls into the stands, do I get to keep him?
ONLY after he's secured first in the BA title.
That's reasonable... I guess.
Apparently, Byron Buxton was demoted before being named the GCL's top prospect.
after getting to the bottom of the article, a pop-up with a link to this article came up:
Minnesota Twins' Josh Willingham likely out a few days
seems legit.
So when is the surgery happening?
July?
As if he wasn't lovable enough.
At least that means he'll probably be off the Twins' radar.
...mostly joking.

Okay then, where's this Lake Harriet photo at?
Does this work? I have no idea.

#7 Kevin Love -- Yep, I had him at 7.
That means the final ranking for the Wolves is:
7. Kevin Love
47. Ricky Rubio

Yep, I added that last week.
So it's a feature, not a bug. Got it. I'll drop the pic and move the More tag up a bit then so as not to hog the real estate.

The link title says it all.
Huh. I thought that was going to be about replacement refs. #toomuchnfl
How many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn't see?
Rehearse? On a related note, anyone here interested in seeing Dylan at the X in Nov?
Suffice to say you should sit in the Champion's Club. Why doesn't everyone sit in the Champion's Club?
Cabrera 0-4, down to .327
Go Joe!!
Hell, go Trout.
Apparently, this Twin didn't learn well from his "mentor," and I'm very pleased.
I am, of course, deliriously happy to hear that. Denard's gotta be in my top 3, so far as active Twins are concerned.
i don't think i can argue with that.
I think he'll be gone and I'll be sad about that. After the no good singles hitting part-time catcher, he's my favorite current Twin.
