ARAGUA 5, LARA 2 IN LARA

TwinsEdgar Ibarra (Aragua) retired the only man he faced.

Game summary:  Aragua led 2-0 after three and 5-0 after seven.

Aragua:  Michael Dubee struck out three in four shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Hector Gimenez was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.

Lara:  Joe Thurston was 2-for-4.

ANZOATEGUI 3, ZULIA 1 IN ANZOATEGUI

TwinsDarin Mastroianni (Zulia) was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt.

Game summary:  Anzoategui scored two in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie.

Zulia:  Austin Bibens-Dirkx struck out six in 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits and no walks.  Sandy Leon (Washington) was 2-for-3.

Anzoategui:  Jose Alvarez (Detroit) gave up an unearned run on three hits and no walks in six innings.  Jose Gil was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

LA GUAIRA 17, MAGALLANES 16 IN LA GUAIRA

Game summary:  La Guaira led 12-4 after seven.  Magallanes came storming back, scoring four in the eighth and eight in the ninth to lead 16-12.  La Guaira then scored five in the ninth to win.  An RBI double by Brandon Short brought home the game-winner.

Magallanes:  Erold Andrus was 3-for-3 with two walks, scoring three times and driving in one.  Mario Lisson was 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk, scoring twice and driving in six.

La Guaira:  Salvador Perez (Kansas City) was 3-for-5 with a walk, a double and a two-run homer, scoring three times.  C. J. Retherford (Dodgers) was 2-for-5 with a grand slam, scoring twice and driving in five.

MARGARITA 9, CARACAS 4 IN MARGARITA

Game summary:  Margarita led 6-1 after three and 9-1 after six.

Caracas:  Jesus Aguilar was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run, driving in two.

Margarita:  Cesar Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.  Javier Brito was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times and driving in one.
