SANTURCE 4, CAROLINA 3 IN SANTURCE (GAME 1—8 INNINGS—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

TwinsJorge Fernandez (Carolina) was used as a pinch-runner but did not bat.  Nelvin Fuentes (Santurce) pitched one inning, giving up one run on one hit and one walk.

Game summary:  Santurce trailed 3-2 after six.  Luis Matos homered with two out in the seventh to tie the score and Sergio Miranda hit a walk-off homer with one out in the eighth.

Carolina:  Jesus Feliciano was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Anthony Garcia (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a run.

Santurce:  Jason Lowey allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings, walking one and striking out five.  Luis Figueroa hit a home run.

CAROLINA 6, SANTURCE 2 IN SANTURCE (GAME 2—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

TwinsAngel Morales (Carolina) was 0-for-3 with a walk.

Game summary:  Carolina scored four in the third to break a scoreless tie.  Santurce got two in the fourth, but Carolina scored two in the seventh to put it away.

Carolina:  Giovanni Soto (Cleveland) struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up one hit.  Pedro Valdes was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.

Santurce:  Jeff Dominguez was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

MAYAGUEZ 9, MANATI 8 IN MANATI

TwinsEddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

Game summary:  Manati led 6-1 after two.  Mayaguez took an 8-6 lead after six.  Manati tied it at eight in the eighth, but Angel Sanchez led off the ninth with a home run.

Mayaguez:  Irving Falu (Kansas City) was 2-for-5 with a grand slam.  Martin Maldonado (Milwaukee) was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

Manati:  Brahiam Maldonado was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in one.  Ruben Gotay was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.
