A Frames were on the bill at the first show I went to at Ralph's Corner Bar after I turned 21. They played with the band FM Knives. I'd read about the show in the paper, and had nothing else going on that night, so I went to take in a night of punk rock. A Frames completely blew me away. Their music is tight, angular, driving punk. They work with a very tight set of themes for their music; most deals with dystopian societies and/or technology. Erin has a really great, monotone voice that works well with the subject matter. They broke up a bit after their Sub Pop debut Black Forest which bummed me out. They got back together (with a new drummer, as Lars is focusing on The Intelligence full time) a couple of years ago after putting out a huge 3 LP collection of singles, b-sides, and rarities. They toured, but I wasn't able to get to a show on the tour. I'm hoping maybe they put out more stuff, or tour again. I don't know. They're a very important band to me because of when I heard them in my life, and the different music I ended up hearing because of the paths they sent me down.
This is the 2010 incarnation of A Frames playing "Chemical" from their first album.
