...sorry, that's stuck in my head for some reason.

I'm not usually up quite this early (and I've been up for quite a while now), but I had one of those dreams where you wake up in a cold sweat, and your adrenaline is rushing. I hate that.
Weird, but I just referenced Carmen Sandiego on Sunday.
"Monday through Friday at 5!"
Someday that song'll come up on my random 10...
When I worked in D.C. I had a co-worker whose husband was on that show. Also, I might still have a Rockapella song or two in my music library.
I've "Single Ladies" stuck in my head since Sunday.
Me too, pal
I waited too long to watch a streaming clip I had found of the Halftime show. It was taken down by this morning.
I'll have to search later. Does NFL.com or someone have it?
As someone who has a bit of professional experience in shipping and receiving, I'd say that they really didn't do a great job packing that truck from the photo provided.
Sean or Hungry Joe. I added an image that is intended to be a banner. Not sure if it is the right size, etc. Take a look and edit as necessary.
nice. unfortunately, the resize knocks it down over 50% (i changed and uploaded it), but it still comes across.
Thanks, looking forward to seeing it. We probably are in need of a banner purge (f-bomb, nishi, capps...)
yeah, it's about that time. i think the nishi one should stay for a bit as, 1) he should still be under contract, 2) it's still just too fitting.
He's not under contract. He asked out and they let him.
Getting paid more in Japan this year.
i meant that as in he'd still be under contract if he had not opted out.
I take care of putting up the banners, but hj is the guy to ask for size...he makes so many, the numbers are always fresh in his head.
I'll do a purge soon. I was going to do one a few days ago and realized I wasn't completely sure whether a couple of guys were still with the team. Really.
O.k. I have one uploaded (with HJ's help). I've got a couple others banging around my head that I may kick out in the next few days.
A list of Keith Law's top 100 prospects. As expected by yesterday's organizational rankings, Twins fared well. 4 in the top 50, 7 overall.

I am intrigued that Buxton ranks above Carlos Correa (#24). Not that surprised though with small samples from last year. Gibson ranking #41 is also interesting.
Gibson was the one that jumped out to me too. May not being on the list is a little disappointing.
In the past I've felt that Law has let the organization color his assessment a little (not a lot, but some). I assume with the Twins doing things a little differently of late that Law has swung the other way on them, and is more bullish on the organization than he ever was before.
Sickels gave May a B-. I don't see a top 100 list to compare it against, but I'm guessing he wouldn't be that close to 100. I think that's okay, since Worley was the main return in the trade.
Yeah, Worley is the one I'm excited about. I'm just surprised at how far May has fallen (wasn't he MLB's #1 Phillies prospect at one point?).
His B-R page says BA ranked him #69 before 2012. I think the Phillies had a bad farm system, so it's entirely possible that was their #1 prospect.
I think when Keith mentioned May he said he was "just outside" the top 100. He didn't make it into the list of the next 10.
Seven prospects in the top 65 looks pretty great. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Berrios, Wimmers, or May move their way into the top 100 next year. I'm excited to see how these kids develop.
The Twins also have high draft picks in June, so they could add one or two more that way as well. Wimmers has yet to pitch a full healthy season in the minors (and won't this year coming off surgery), so I really doubt he'll move up that high. Hopefully, he can just show he's healthy when he does come back.
None of these lists have May in the Top 100 (or Top 50 for pitchers). I believe I remember reading somewhere that May was ranked 20th by one of these lists prior to last season before falling back this year. He definitely has the stuff to be a very good pitcher, its just a matter of command and control. Coming to the Twins means he will get more help in that area than anywhere else. Of course, the Twins also would be less likely to call him up if he struggles in that area.
We played officers vs. enlisted in the middle of the desert in Kuwait (redundant?) before heading north. Much better than deck plating, but running in that sand could be a real ass-kicker.
i had a similar experience playing "snow baseball" in japan in about 1.5 feet of snow. oh yeah, and snow baseball is played with a tennis ball.
that is very cool, CH. Thanks for the link.
Really cool link, CH. I just read the Shiloh passage in Shelby Foote's The Civil War over the weekend.*
*Note to Philo, it's going to be a little while before I get to The Brothers Karamazov because I'm going to devour all three volumes of Foote. I'm 431 pages into volume one in a week, so it shouldn't delay me that long.
It has taken Dad years to finish the Foote trilogy. He only gets to read a little bit over lunch every day, and he intersperses other books as well.
My pace will definitely slacken because I won't have multiple plane rides to read. Still, Foote seems like such a wonderful story-teller, that I doubt it will take me too long.
it's not like anyone did a First Monday Book Day post yesterday that you missed out on. But if someone were to offer to do one....
I'd actually be willing to. I can get it up late tonight and/or early tomorrow?
Any time before March 4.... π
just heard a commercial for the Minnesota Twins on the radio. It was playing up that new pitchers Worley, Corriea, and Pelfrey will win every game (or something like that).
bring back 'Get to know em'
162-0!
I'd suggest that if Correia is winning every game (or even a majority of his games!) the offense will be mighty good. 162-0 isn't out of the question!
woo-hoo! I hope that this is a thing again this year, Padre. It brought a smile to my face every game day.
I planned my whole late afternoon/early evening around the USA-Honduras qualifier, only then to figure out it's tomorrow. I've been actually somewhat productive in the chores department as a result.
I might like a sash from the right shoulder to left hip, but I'm not sure.
those look simple, but sweet
I had planned on getting my oil changed tomorrow and looking into replacing the tires on my car (they needed it very badly. Quite frankly, I was insane driving in a MN winter on the tires I had). On my way home from some errands this afternoon, I got a flat about half-mile from the mechanic's. It was 3.5 hours of my time and nearly $600, but I actually feel a lot better.
When I moved back from California I spent my first three winters driving on summer-only tires (poor undergrad, natch). The second winter on those tires we got over 100 inches of snow. It was an adventure.
Yeah, we take care of our other car a lot better. And the kids never ride in the bad one.

Thank you! Tonight!
Joe Mauer makes more than the current Houston Astros team
oof.
the funnier part is that the Astros' highest payroll guy, Wandy Rodriguez, plays for Pittsburgh.
ART! Okay, these rock...creations of a Pixar animator
Gus Johnson calling World Cup matches? its going to happen
And so it begins.

the latest installment of "you're old."
I own or have listened to a majority of those albums.
I have heard of a majority of those artists or groups. I own zero of those albums.
I own one and know of very few. I am pop culture illiterate.
Oh man. I could spend all day commenting on that....uhm, what was that link for again?
I basically quit buying albums before any of those albums were released.
Cranberries was only trax that crossed our mantle.
This week in antiquities: First Richard III discovered buried in a car park, now a baseball from the Battle of Shiloh/Pittsburg Landing.
We played flag football - diamond deck plating tends to tear up knees and elbows.

Interesting name on this PED list!
More proof that PEDs can't fix being terrible.

Speaking of the Birds of War, rumored 100th anniversary kits are leaked. If these are the real deal, I may be in the market for one.
I might like a sash from the right shoulder to left hip, but I'm not sure.

"summer-only tires"??? There's another kind?
