This last bizarre interview process is leading to some pretty significant changes in how our store does things. If their money's where their mouths are, it'll be very good for me, but as always, I'm pretty reserved as far as hope goes.

For the first time since I've been here, we cancelled worship in Gettysburg. I don't like to do that, but there's a blizzard warning out, and the state is telling people not to travel anywhere. Sometimes we have to do things the smart way.
Your god would expect no less, Jeff A. Kudos to you, and best wishes to everyone in your communities.
it was not fun driving the 4 blocks to the gas station to get the paper this morning. Usually I walk, but got a good coating of ice, now its snowing.
Keep safe, Citizens.
I heard a story on NPR this morning that some kid died of CO poisoning in a running vehicle as dad was trying to shovel. The snowplow came by and (allegedly) plugged/replugged the exhaust pipe while he was trying to shovel out. Kid was left in the vehicle to "keep warm" while dad shoveled.

lessons being (1) MAKE SURE YOUR TAILPIPE IS NOT OBSTRUCTED WITH SNOW OR ICE; (2) be careful out there.
Technology, Pastor! Record the sermon and post it online anyway!
I did think about that, but I know a lot of people wouldn't watch it there, and since it's the end of a sermon series, I want people to hear it. I also thought about recording and posting an alternative message (I have quite a few sermons I've given at our local nursing home I could use). What I did was post a Lenten message Bishop Ough recorded the other day. I guess my congregations will just have to settle for the bishop today!

got about 2 inches of snow then it stopped and the temp is now 37.
the streets are slush and no signs of the plows
After much melting today, everything is pretty much iced over already for the overnight. Careful tomorrow morning!
Big League Stew captures the rush for Marlins season tickets.
Ouch.
Pitchers and catchers report today for Red Sox, Cubs, Indians and Rockies.
I approve this message.
I know that this has Forbidden Zone written all over it, so I won't link. But it's too delicious not to share.
"PHOENIX (AP) — The self-proclaimed "America's Toughest Sheriff" joined forces this weekend with action movie star Steven Seagal to train volunteer armed posse members to defend Phoenix-area schools against gunmen."
A long time ago, I helped put together a technical newsletter that featured a column called "Ask Mr. Bun". Mr. Bun was a fictitious chef in a Chinese restaurant, but also a martial arts expert who deployed simple kitchen tools as weapons (like Casey Ryback). Bun was also known for his bad koans about Asian fast food (e.g. "Neither wind, nor flag, nor mind is moving - but I think the Mongolian beef is moving").
what could go wrong?
Yeah...no links, but Arpaio is essentially a cartoon character. One googling session will tell you that.
I have a new favorite commercial.

I like it- it's definitely my favorite Geico commercial (not that that's saying much).
So, I recorded a rap track today. I'll remember you guys when I inevitably explode onto the hip-hop scene.
an old friend did that, and i can't stop listening to it... you've got a high bar, spoonto.
That is fantastically stupid. I love him already.
yeah, that gets stuck in my head now whenever i go into a produce section.
other fruit? good too!
remember when the news was King Felix was getting paid. ummm yeah. hold that thought. (the story includes a pic of Bert I have never seen because there are like 6 stock photos of Bert (young, beardless, bearded Twin, Pirates WS, Twins WS, grizzled vet Angel, I<3Fart))
you gotta count the stock Indians Bert photo, too
flipped over to the Grammys and J-Lo's dress was..umm.. very whoa.
mavis staples and brittany howard singing on the same stage. awesome.
blech. when mumford and sons won best album, i think i saw sandra bullock right behind them. fitting.
i should also note that i'm not sure how i ended up seeing a majority of the grammys. i was doing taxes and cleaning the house and it just ended up staying on. also, i'm ready for this fun. thing to be over.
Linds and I always watch them. It's fun.
Why on earth did Frank Ocean choose to sing 'Forest Gump'??
and more to the point, why did he choose to perform it like that?
Linds and I always watch them. It's fun.
heh, yes, the grammys were "fun." tonight.
were they "wang chung" tonight?
I enjoy watching the Grammys because they horn in as many performances as they can during the night. The awards are light and the speeches short.
Although this year, it seems like no one wanted to rock out. Lots of mid tempo to slow stuff.
jack white did what he could.
The Black Keys too. I also liked Bruno Mars/Sting
