  1. Thank goodness we're almost to the end of Creme Egg season. I cannot stand those things. Seeing them everywhere makes me uncomfortable.

        1. Those commercials they used to show of the creme oozing out of the egg are really what turned me off to them. I didn't like eating them before but seeing the creme, complete with yolk (yes I know it's just food coloring, but it really wigs me out), oozing out of the egg was just too much. πŸ™

          1. yeah, not a fan of the Creme Egg, but the chicken bunny commercial is a classic

    1. I am irrationally happy about this. I hate seeing a crappy middle infielder batting #2.

  2. I see that this happened last night:

This is really testing my ability to remain an NBA fan until Stern and Kobe are gone.

    1. what a joke.
it seems like we've gone past 'conspiracy level' when it comes to the NBA wanting the Lakers in the playoffs.

  3. I am amused that the twitterati seem to have their panties in a bunch about teh Google doodling about Cesar Chavez on this holy day.

  4. oh man, some dude for Louisville snapped his leg while trying to defend a three point shot. Its bad. Like Joe Thiesmann bad.

      1. Yup, it's very, very bad. I just saw a grainy GIF on Yahoo!, and I'm definitely not going looking for a HD version.

    1. Didn't the Twins have a minor league prospect many years back who snapped something hitting the bag when running to first base and his ankle was pointing almost the wrong direction? Man, that was ugly. I don't think they had video, thank goodness.

  5. Baseball is back yay
ESPN pushing Curt Schilling on BTTN and John Kruk in the booth, boo.

          1. Here's the list from Big League Stew

            Alex Rodriguez, $29M
            Johan Santana, $25.5M
            Cliff Lee, $25M
            Mark Teixeira, $23.25M
            C.C. Sabathia, $23M
            Prince Fielder, $23M
            Joe Mauer, $23M
            Tim Lincecum, $22.25M
            Adrian Gonzalez, $21.86M
            Miguel Cabrera, $21M
            Vernon Wells, $21M
            Carl Crawford, $20.86M
            Matt Cain, $20.83M
            Cole Hamels, $20.5M
            Matt Kemp, $20.25M
            Felix Hernandez, $20.2M
            Justin Verlander, $20.1M
            Roy Halladay, $20M
            Ryan Howard, $20M
            Barry Zito, $20M

That's 20 players, not quite 23, but still a lot.

              1. The dollar value on this deal seems pretty reasonable, but I don't understand it with Kinsler signed long term at 2B and Profar knocking on the door of the majors. I guess this means they'll shift Kinsler to first, but that seems like a waste.

                WILLINGHAM AND MORNEAU FOR PROFAR!!1

                1. Lock them in cheap and then trade maybe? With the Andrus extension, I think Kinsler gets moved to either first or the outfield.

  6. I forgot how much of a joke the Astros stadium is. 275 foot LF, big ol hill in CF

    1. Our long national nightmare still not over. Just heard "God Bless America" for the first time of the season. Ick. Bring me some peanuts and Cracker Jack.

    1. he is the Astros #5 starter, but the way the schedule works out he wont be pitching for a while

      1. That makes a lot of sense to pitch him in relief then. Wish more managers would do something like that.

      1. And he gets the save in a six run win. To be fair, the score was 4-2 when he entered the game.

        1. I wonder how many 4 inning saves have happened on Opening Day, or this early in the season.

          *edit* technically 3.1 inning save

  7. "First major league appearance." Going to be saying that a lot for the Astros this year.

  8. saw this 'This Is SportsCenter' commercial tonight. made me laugh
