Thank goodness we're almost to the end of Creme Egg season. I cannot stand those things. Seeing them everywhere makes me uncomfortable.
equal rights for creme eggs!
Don't Ask, Don't Tell, I say. There's a reason they have a chocolate shell.
Those commercials they used to show of the creme oozing out of the egg are really what turned me off to them. I didn't like eating them before but seeing the creme, complete with yolk (yes I know it's just food coloring, but it really wigs me out), oozing out of the egg was just too much. π
yeah, not a fan of the Creme Egg, but the chicken bunny commercial is a classic

You guys are nuts. Cadbury creme eggs are one of nature's perfect foods!
This is Easter Candy weakness:
If Cadbury made a cherry-filled Rotten Egg, I'd be all over that
Whoa. Ron Gardenhire says plan is for Joe Mauer to bat No. 2 to start the season. #MNTwins— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) March 31, 2013
This season is looking up.
I am irrationally happy about this. I hate seeing a crappy middle infielder batting #2.
Poor Willingham. Now he'll have to deal with first base all clogged up.
And I can't even imagine the pressure of having those extra guys in scoring position.
I see that this happened last night:

This is really testing my ability to remain an NBA fan until Stern and Kobe are gone.
Hrm, the youtube thingy seems to be not functioning.
not with that link. fixed.
what a joke.
it seems like we've gone past 'conspiracy level' when it comes to the NBA wanting the Lakers in the playoffs.
A little GIMP-ing later, and just in time for the premier
very nice. If only there was a Mom's basement in the background....
I am amused that the twitterati seem to have their panties in a bunch about teh Google doodling about Cesar Chavez on this holy day.
oh man, some dude for Louisville snapped his leg while trying to defend a three point shot. Its bad. Like Joe Thiesmann bad.
Didn't the Twins have a minor league prospect many years back who snapped something hitting the bag when running to first base and his ankle was pointing almost the wrong direction? Man, that was ugly. I don't think they had video, thank goodness.
Alex Rodriguez, $29M
Johan Santana, $25.5M
Cliff Lee, $25M
Mark Teixeira, $23.25M
C.C. Sabathia, $23M
Prince Fielder, $23M
Joe Mauer, $23M
Tim Lincecum, $22.25M
Adrian Gonzalez, $21.86M
Miguel Cabrera, $21M
Vernon Wells, $21M
Carl Crawford, $20.86M
Matt Cain, $20.83M
Cole Hamels, $20.5M
Matt Kemp, $20.25M
Felix Hernandez, $20.2M
Justin Verlander, $20.1M
Roy Halladay, $20M
Ryan Howard, $20M
Barry Zito, $20M
That's 20 players, not quite 23, but still a lot.
Zito, Crawford and Wells. Oh my.
Don't forget Howard!
top two guys on that list are injured. oof.
10 (TEN!) are starting pitchers!
wont make the list, but looks like Elvis Andrus got paid. 8 yr/120 mil. wow
The dollar value on this deal seems pretty reasonable, but I don't understand it with Kinsler signed long term at 2B and Profar knocking on the door of the majors. I guess this means they'll shift Kinsler to first, but that seems like a waste.
WILLINGHAM AND MORNEAU FOR PROFAR!!1
They really need relievers. Perkins and Morneau.
Lock them in cheap and then trade maybe? With the Andrus extension, I think Kinsler gets moved to either first or the outfield.
Best record in baseball!
It's been noted elsewhere, but their highest paid player (Wandy Ramirez) will play for the Pirates this season.
I forgot how much of a joke the Astros stadium is. 275 foot LF, big ol hill in CF
Rick Ankiel with the first homer of the year, and it's 7-2 Astros. Heh.
Our long national nightmare still not over. Just heard "God Bless America" for the first time of the season. Ick. Bring me some peanuts and Cracker Jack.
Yeah, I was going to comment on that as well. Maybe we've scaled it back to the special events like Opening Day? Please?
Yeah right. It's integrated into tradition now.
I thought it might be Sunday's only, actually
Bedard in relief? Huh.
he is the Astros #5 starter, but the way the schedule works out he wont be pitching for a while
That makes a lot of sense to pitch him in relief then. Wish more managers would do something like that.
As opposed to having a twelve-man pitching staff? Insanity!
But the uncertainty! Of not knowing his role! MY GOD, MAN!
Bedard in line for the save!
first time Bedard has pitched out of the bullpen since 2004
And he gets the save in a six run win. To be fair, the score was 4-2 when he entered the game.
I wonder how many 4 inning saves have happened on Opening Day, or this early in the season.
*edit* technically 3.1 inning save
PROVEN CLOSER
"First major league appearance." Going to be saying that a lot for the Astros this year.
saw this 'This Is SportsCenter' commercial tonight. made me laugh

I had the exact same reaction when I saw it. Very funny.

*avoids replays, avoids replays, avoids replays...*
CBS showed 1 wideshot replay, and Im surprised they did that.
Someone on Twitter said it's worse than Shaun Livingston's knee, so there is absolutely no way I'm looking.
Yup, it's very, very bad. I just saw a grainy GIF on Yahoo!, and I'm definitely not going looking for a HD version.
Napoleon McCallum bad. Ugh.
Joe Theismann bad.
Didn't the Twins have a minor league prospect many years back who snapped something hitting the bag when running to first base and his ankle was pointing almost the wrong direction? Man, that was ugly. I don't think they had video, thank goodness.
Are you thinking of Jason Kendall?
no, it was a minor league game, and a Twins' prospect, I'm pretty sure
Baseball is back yay
ESPN pushing Curt Schilling on BTTN and John Kruk in the booth, boo.
Houston payroll is $19.8 million. That is hilarious.
A-Rod makes more by himself than the entirety of Houston's roster.
but the Astros will get more production from their spent money.
They said that something like 23 players do. That seemed high to me, but Kruk's on the team, so it could be a mistake.
So does Joe Mauer.
Here's the list from Big League Stew
