Yesterday was a reprieve, but today is yet another day of rolling thunder and lightning (and hail?). We still have siding to fix from last week, and the dog is freaking out.

Here's what the roads looked like this morning on my drive to work.
I think that qualifies me as a rider on the storm.
April 18th and the kids are being let out of school early because of snow/dangerous icy roads
crazy
From Peter Sagal's twitter
Yeah, it's been snowing quite a bit since midday. Started as rain, then sleet, and now big flakes.
Justin Smoak was out by about 30 feet
a 'send him home' call that Scott Ullger might not even make
I don't think it was that bad. He was only about three steps from the plate when Pena caught the ball after the Tigers executed a good relay. Plus, the Mariners only get a hit once every week or so, so I think the percentages make it a little closer. Here's another issue with the stupid bullpens. Is it really that much more valuable to have a 12th man on your pitching staff than to have a player who can run faster than Justin Smoak when he's the tying run on first base with two outs in the ninth?
yeah, he was sucking fumes as he rounded third. it wasn't THAT far off, but a half-ways speedy runner would have made that
Maybe could have one of those relievers run for Smoak instead!
but what if he pulls a hamstring while doing something he's not paid to do!
That was the 14th, so regardless of the length of the bench, I doubt anyone would have been left to run other than a pitcher but I agree with your statement.
Rolling Thunder? Let's go to the revue!

Suck it, your eminences!
Double plus ungood.
one of my go-to places addressed this pretty well: I wish economists made better plots
Looks like our rain here is going right up to Chicago; are they going to get a game in tonight?
it took me 80 minutes to go 10 miles on the highway this morning. oh, and i don't think they'll be getting a game in since one isn't scheduled.
well, I was thinking Cubs, but yeah that's a day game anyway. still pretty miserable conditions
who cares about the cubs?
did I say I cared about them?
It's a good thing they're in Toronto for tonight's game.
Britt Robson's Wolves postmortem
In news of the inevitable, Mostacholi to 15 day DL, out 3 weeks. Can they bring Oswaldo back up.
they're two steps ahead of you, brah.
Kendrys Morales breaks up Verlander's no-hit bid with a double. OK, it was only in the first inning, but anytime a pitcher like Verlander pitches against the M's, it's always a strong possibility.
Michael Beasley ended the season with 759 points on 766 shots. -1.5 win shares
Lord Haw-Haw tells me that Jeter is out until after the ASB.
He's been keeping himself busy. (Check out the byline)
Oy, that's some bad writing.
"I also know it must be tough to root for the Yankees while living in Miami and Cleveland."
I'd suggest that's pretty easy no matter where you live. Don't think Cleveland or Miami would make that much harder.
It's a hell of a lot easier to root for the Yankees while living in Miami and Cleveland than it is rooting for the Marlins or Indians while living in NYC.
Why would you want to do that?
No kidding. Is that some in-joke?
It reads like the worst writing about Jeter.
Does Jeter believe all the wonderful things people write about him?
Please tell me its a clever joke.
Dan McLaughlin:
That's worth a million bazillion points. Philo, make it so.
Nishioka is batting .349 with a .417 OBP in Japan. FIRE TERRY RYAN!!11!
Good for him. Nishi was a total disaster as a major league player, but he was easy to root for.
Yeah, he endeared himself with his nifty defense.
Still HPR's favorite Twin. And without any games on broadcast, likely to remain that way for a long time.
#2: Ben Revere
#3: Denard Span
#4: Joe Mauer
Luckily for HPR, #4 is highly unlikely to follow the other 3 out of town any time soon...
Wild dont play until 9:30 tonight. ugh
BUT, an hour block of fresh Parks and Rec episodes (Patton Oswald is in one) will help tide things over.
And its a Christmas episode of Community, with the fresh snowfall it wont feel that out of place.
The clip of Patton's filibuster was awesome.
httpv://youtu.be/5BBhNkywMJY
his guest starring role on Justified this season was simply awesome.
Hell yes. Constable Bob was awesome. I loved the lines from Raylan about Bob in the episode where
I named my fantasy baseball team "Go Bag" this year.
ok, just watched that YouTube clip, and that is awesome. If someone started a Kickstarter campaign for that pitch Id donate.
according to Ken Tremendous, the filibuster was improvised.
Wild have a magic number of 7 points for a playoff spot against Columbus, Detroit, and Dallas.
They only need to get to 0 against two of those three.
On the road in San Jose is always tough (also the Sharks are 15-1-5 at home this year, yikes!)
Vancouver loses tonight, tightening that division race if the Wild can steal a point or two tonight.
yeah, i'mma bout to turn off this game...
How is Pominville working out for you guys?
9 points in 8 games.
Trey had his best game tonight. Pitched 2 1/3 innings and threw a lot of strikes. Had three or four strikeouts. Gave up two runs with help from the closer, who stranded a runner at third. Trey also got a hit, "stole" second and third (the other team didn't attempt to throw out base runners) and scored on a wild pitch. His Rays team won 5-3. Trey is now 2-1 for a team with three wins on the season.
Alex Meyer did not allow the ball out of the infield tonight in six innings. The only hit was an infield single to SS Danny Santana. 0 runs, 4 BBs and 5 Ks. 86 pitches, 50 for strikes. New Britain won 17-1.
