The 100+ temperatures day after day. That was why I can't stand this place.

would you rather have 6 inches of snow on May 1?
there is a silver lining to all this snow, its made a dent on the drought conditions.
Nice weather here. Oh, and the extremely high oak pollen levels, that too.
They're telling us we could get 4" of snow tonight here in Omerha. First snow in May since 1967.
looks like I got out just in time
I'm having a hard time envisioning a time where I'd rather have 100+ temps than 6 inches of snow. I think that probably includes July.
Dry heat.
When your car and every building is air conditioned, I'll take the heat every time.
And I'll pass on the six months of 100+.
one winter, please.
I miss winter. Yeah, yeah, yeah it's been long and brutal, but the humidity and heat are beginning to crank up here in NOLA. It'll be October before I'll be able to have the windows open at night again.
Did you get snow last night, wattsy?
I sincerely doubt it will last, but my 19-month-old daughter has apparently decided to potty train herself.
Go with it. AJR decided to potty-train at 28 months or so.
Summer's coming up, she can have more of her accidents outside.
my old cat did that once. i walked in and saw him using the toilet (properly) with no prompting from us. he was a weird cat.
We bought a little potty this week as my 20-month-old daughter has been trying to do the same! I don't know if it will take and I don't have enough faith to go without diapers, but it sure is fun to hear her say "Poo-poo" and head to the bathroom.
Oh yeah, the thought of getting rid of diapers is awesome.
If you're a fan of Tom Waits and/or Sesame Street, here's a treat: Cookie Monster "performing" Waits' "Hell Broke Luce" [strong language warning].
I don't really like "newer" Tom Waits but Closing Time is awesome. I should check around to see what else I would like.

Spent last night celebrating International Jazz Day by going to the Diana Krall concert. Great show, I was hoping to spot Mr. Diana Krall but I didn't see him anywhere.
dig the change, sean.
Thanks. It had been bothering me for a while to see all that wasted white space, plus it was redundant with the headers.
agreed.
ELIAS: 5,992 K's in April, highest April strikeout total in any season in MLB history. 15.29 K's per game 2nd-high avg. in any full month.
Dang, I didn't notice that Dortmund held on against Madrid yesterday in Champions League Semis action. Looks like it will be an all German final. I've stated here before but I was looking for a Bayern-Madrid final.
It's up to 7-0 on aggregate. I'm very excited for the final.
Can anyone pinch hit for me on Tuesday? I'm going to be out of the country, 12 hours in the future, so I won't want to spoil the result of the game for anyone.
Log or recap?

I got ya covered. ... probably.
Stop-n-Pop stepping down at Canis Hoopus. I was stunned when SBG shut down the original WGOM, but couldn't be happier with how that turned out (this site rocks thanks to Sean, Spooky, etc. and SBG is a regular). Can't say I am as optimistic about my favorite Wolves site.
are there regular content providers over there who would fit in here? We are large. We contain multitudes already.
We will assimilate all.
6 of e was ours before he was theirs.
That is awesome on so many levels. Genius, bootsy.
There are a few CHers astute enough to recognize a Walt Whitman reference (or one to ST:TNG), but the best writers (the top half dozen or so) are more likely to comment than to create content. As you mentioned, E6 is one of the MVPs. A couple guys who are fantastic with stats; a few more who are eloquent; a few more who are hilarious. But without S-n-P, I fear that the centre will not hold.
It's an interesting contrast to WGOM. The people who post here are virtually all of a high caliber; CH has a lot more regulars (and occasionals), ranging from A+ quality to D-, with the average around a B (grade inflation!). Yet this very messiness adds to its charm.
Unlike WGOM, it's not an independent site, which is a big part of what's happening there now.
I feel fortunate to be able to follow along on two great sites, one mainly Twins and one mainly Wolves. Vive le difference, at least for now.
Up there with Bois's Mike Sweeney article in the highest level of things that people have ever written about sports. (If you haven't read that, get to it now. If you haven't read it lately, why not now?)

It's a follow-up on Cookie's "cover" of Waits' "God's Away on Business" from a couple years back.
I really don't listen to enough Tom Waits.

Somehow, the Twins are at 5.70 K/9. This is concerning.
Then again, their total of 53 walks is far and away the lowest in the league.
And to be fair, its pretty much right in line with expectations.
Disconcerting, even! And we've had a lot of April games postponed, too
noon start for the Twins game. perfect cure for being snowed out of work today.
Shit, that throws off my plans for the day.
Edit: Wait, that's 1 o'clock here. I have time for the gym then.
Richard Schulze to buy the team!!
Or try to, at least.
B-R finally adds splits for minor league players. Gamelogs were also added. It appears both are limited to the 2013 season.

The Case of the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Bikini Top v. the (More) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Pastie
Awesome.
That is fantastic.

This is a bummer.
It really is.
I know no one's interested in reading anything new about Tim Tebow, but you really should read this: an excerpt from his 2024-published memoirs, about his first year in the CFL. Jon Bois must have a time machine and this is what he brought back.
Up there with Bois's Mike Sweeney article in the highest level of things that people have ever written about sports. (If you haven't read that, get to it now. If you haven't read it lately, why not now?)
